Lets take a moment and remember all those who died on this day in 2001. Lets say a prayer for all the innocent souls, for the HEROES that gave their lives saving others, for all those left behind to cope with this tragedy. Lets pray for our military who are out there in harms way. May God Almighty help us all.

As I set here this morning, I wish I was back in the service. May God Bless all of our troops over there trying to bring a better life to others. When the dust settles, other nations will know not to mess with the US. This is just part of what is necessary to keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I had a very hard day yesterday.....I kept seeing the images as I saw them in 2001. I didn't turn on a TV or anything, and avoided any functions. I worked the overnight shift and tried to sleep during the day, but I kept remembering the tragedy. I was several hundred miles from NYC that day, home safe with my family in Iowa, yet I feel like I was right there. When I read about the conspiracy theories pointing fingers at our own government, I get sick. Anyone who believes that sort of garbage should pick up the papers from that day and week after. We had confessions from the Arab world for the deed, along with promises for more.

There is a site link on another thread to "The Blood of Heroes" that brings it all back. My wife watched it with me, tears running down her face, just like in 2001. The pictures are from that day and the quotes are from some of the smartest, bravest men who ever stood on American soil. Without them, we would not HAVE an America. My wife sent the link to all of her classmates in her Master's program. My wife pretty much rarely ever sends internet links or forwards jokes, etc. This is very significant to me. I love her very much.....

I was not able to serve in the military when I really wanted to, after high school and into college. I have Asthma, Sleep Apnea, and an irregular heart beat. I heard that the Navy had relaxed a bit since I tried to enlist, but now I am nearing the cutoff, am several pounds overweight, and have my wife and kids to consider. I don't think I am ready to serve anymore, as I am not willing to make the family sacrifice. This sad feeling gives me all the more respect and admiration for those service men and women who are making the sacrifices for people like me, everyday. I love my freedoms and my country, and I pray that all those who serve and are searching for the enemies of freedom succeed and come home safely to us.

how about us firefighters and ems workers. not bashing the military at all i am proud they are serving for us over seas and taking care of business. i just also think the firefighter/ems personel need to get a little more appreciation too. i hate seeing that it took a huge tragedy like 9/11 to make the world realize a little more of what we have to go through every day... so to myself and other firefighters/ems personel/ cops thank you!

My apologies, did not mean in the slightest way to either diminish the contributiuons and importance of the fire fighters or ems workers, or to deny the same praise to them. They certainly deserve it. I am refering to all as the HEROES they are.

Excellent point. I have been a volunteer firefighter, worked with the Missouri State Police, and been a Correctional Officer for a Sheriff's department. I am still a public servant in Water Pollution Control, trying to provide a service for my fellow man. I too apologize for neglecting to mention the Fire Fighters, EMS workers, and Police Officers in my post. America lost a lot of fine talent that terrible day, and we have many dedicated people working to stave off another such incident. While I pray they are successful, Statistics and Probability are against them. It is up to each one of us to look out for our security and safety, not just the public employees desperately trying to see and know everything before it happens.
