Smile Support our Troops

SUPPORT THE TROOPS THIS SEASON

I had been reading the post on "Military Rigs Falling Apart" and thought a new thread for websites and ideas to support our troops if so enclined. I, having spent 20+ years in the US Air Force know how it is to spend extended periods of time away from loved ones. Tough is too easy a word to describe it. My prayers and blessings go out to each and every military personnel out there. Remember, it isn't about whether you agree with the war, but it is for the humanity and goodwill to those sailors, soldiers, airmen and marines who are away from their loved ones during this holiday season.

Please consider helping our troops and their families during the holiday season and all year
round.

Pretty amazing that there are alot of fokks on this web site who want to run down Bush and the Iraq war while preaching about supporting the troops.

You don't see them posting on this thread do ya......?

Talk is cheap. I just donated $200 to the phone card thing. How about you?

Lets keep this thread in the front until Christmas huh?

Break out the old CC and spend some of the BOMB money for a good cause.

I thank you Geico266 for all those who benefit from your generosity. Ramlovingvet, I agree wholeheartedly with the plug for Ou Uplink. I am a life member of our local VFW and we continually hold fund raisers and package things for the troops.

At this point in time, woulda, coulda, and shoulda don't matter to our folks who are risking their lives overseas. NONE of them made the decision to invade IRAQ but all of them swore to uphold and follow the orders of their superiors for the sake of the United States. It didn't matter if they believed the war was just or the right thing to do. If they're told to go, then that's what they must do. It's not a job where if you disagree with your boss, you can up and quit then go home. You'd end up in jail. I personally know many active duty and reserve military folks that totally disagree with the Iraq war and some are currently over there today, but not a single one would disobey the orders of their superiors.

Let's not forget those that are in other places such as Afghanistan, South Korea, Bosnia --- too many places to list but you get the idea. The focus is on Iraq since that is where the news coverage focuses, but those in other locations are just as separated from their loved ones.

I salute each and every one of them for their sacrifices and believe they all are heros! They are not the only ones to make those sacrifices either. They leave behind their families, parents, friends and loved ones who must also endure the separation, the fear, and the unknown.

In my eyes it doesn't matter if you agree with the politics that got us to where we are and this post will hopefully not turn into a battleground for those views. I feel strongly that everyone has the right to voice their opinion, (one of the reasons we fight for democracy) and am not saying those views shouldn't be heard, just asking to think about what this post is really about, supporting our troops!

God Bless and have a safe and happy holiday season!

During his year in Iraq, Dave was supplied calling cards from the VFW. One of the ladies at the VFW Post in Sherman, Texas took it on herself to be sure he never ran out.....and he didn't. That phone call home is a wonderful thing for the folks on both ends of the line. Not only did my sister know that he was Ok, but they were able to take care of a lot of business concerning insurance, court proceedings and professional licensing. A really great program!

Most excellant post. I like to read of positive things being done for our service men & women. Much better than the retoric posts of what we should or shouldn't have done after 9/11
My wife works at the V.A hospital here & there are positive programs thru the V.A that one can get involved with also.

Be a part of the solution not part of the problem.

Support our men & women serving our country during this the toughest time to be away from family & friends.
