I use my XD for carry. Fits me well and carrys nicely. I used to carry the XD 40. While i think now i am going to switch to a kimper 1911 Compact. For a polymer pistol it actuall fires well. I like the XDs over the glocks because of the grip safety, so you must actually be holding the pistol and pull the trigger.

While you never stated your main useage of the pistol, this pistol is a great all around go getter.

IMO- If you are a medium frame to larger frame then the gun seems to work well for that. Smaller frame, it seems to print more. But then again. i have a buddy that is 5-10 160 lbs and carrys a Desert eagle .50 CHrome plated....

I currently carry a Glock 22. I haven't checked dimensions, but I can't imagine that the XD-45 would be much bigger (if at all).

SO...I happened to drive by a Sportsman's Warehouse today so I thought I'd stop in and check out the XD-45 for myself. I must admit it was a very nice gun, but not nice enough to make me sell my G22 (I figure if you have a .45 and a 9mm then you don't really need a .40). I"m going to hold out and see what the G21SF looks like.
