Snow plow installer?
Looking for some details on snow plow installers that have experience.
I have a western poly plow older one, from 2000 i believe, with the UniMount
And i'm getting a new truck in next few days (2012) and they are saying
that they don't make the UniMount for the newer trucks.
He told me i need to get whole new plow and new wiring, priced it out for me $8k installed.
That is a bit too steep for me to spend when i have a perfectly good working plow that i use maybe 10 times/ year.
I read there is a "adapter" that i can get and install a new mount on the truck and old plow will attach just fine. but then i'm curious about wiring now.
what do i get and where. any suggestions?

Wow that is steep, prices must have gone up because a few years ago I had a Curtis 8' installed for just over a quarter of that.
I would try to contact Western directly, even see if you can find a local Western dealer/installer to get it done. Who is saying the old plow won't work, the Dodge dealer?

The Ultramount to Unimount conversion. I use on my 98.5. It works great. You will also need your truckside mount. I wired my truck up was very easy. Had to tap into the turn signal wires. Wire up the solenoid, control wires, the power cables to the plow. The whole wiring kit comes with all relays, wiring etc. Just have to get the schematics or manual for your year. I also mounted my frame mount. All and all was not a bad job at all. A place quoted me $500-$600 to do it. Just have to get your unimount wiring kit. Power kit wire to plow pump. Just have to figure out what's it worth to do.
Good Luck on your endeavour,
John
