Smoked a Mustang Yesterday!!!

Was coming home from a visit to the cemetary with my cousin to pay our respects over the holiday to some of our deceised relatives. Well anyhow, we're cruising back north on the "Tristate Tollway" in holiday traffic with a bunch of state police out writing tickets and this black mustang is riding my bumper when I'm doing about 65mph. After about 5 miles of this BS, the traffic thins out and this jerk goes to try and pass me on the right. I was driving in the middle lane. Well, when I saw him change lanes, I eased into the throttle a bit and then mashed it and gave him a good soot job. But he still tried to get by me; so I let the Cummins scream!!! At about 95mph he got out of it so I let up on her. I didn't want to ride into an unnecessary ticket!! Anyhow it was great to open her up and see what she'll do!!! I still have wood over it!!!

Nice job, I think that these trucks are very very fast over 75 mph. So far I've beaten a Subaru Wrx and a Neon SRT-4 on the Tri-state. Both guys tried three seperate times to take me but once my truck is in OD with the convertor locked, it gets up to 100mph PDQ. The guy with Neon tried to get a running start on me the last time from a couple of car lengths back but I still walked away once I saw him coming. Those Srt-4's are supposed to be mid 14 seconds cars bone stock.

What setting did you have your Edge on? Is that the first time you've floored it gramps?

It's funny you said it was a Mustang because yesterday I had my first real race from a stop light. I was on Grand ave in Gurnee heading west past Rosen Honda where the road narrows down from three lanes to two. I was driving in the far right lane that ends and there was a clean white Mustang GT (1990ish?) in the middle lane. He was stopped at the light and saw me coming when the light turned green he tried to keep me from passing him but when he couldn't he got over in the left lane and blew by me after I let off. Just as he passed me the Next light by the Walgreens turned red and there was no cars in front of us. I got all excited and turned my Quad box up all the way.

I had a feeling this guy would get after it so I gave it a little throttle as the turning arrows were cycling. I jumped the green a little and I heard him hit it so I new we were on! I held it pinned from zero to 70mph and he was about a half car in front of me. Just as my truck got into OD I let off becuase we were coming up to slower traffic. I know if it was 1/4 mile I would have passed him in OD. I'm sure he was more than a little suprised to see a 7000lb truck hanging with his ponycar. I think I need a TST and new turbo soon Overall I'm really happy with the way my truck performs from the limited Mods I've done. I'm hoping for low 15's at the track in a couple of weeks.

Hi Tim. Good to here from you. Been real busy working, or I'd have stopped by to see you at the shop. I had the Juice set at level 2 in this encounter. He was irritating me because he was riding my bumper. You know that if you can't see their headlights, they're too close!!!! Like I said, when he jumped into the right lane to get around me, I just eased into her a bit to spool up the turbo and then mashed it. Great big cloud of black smoke in his face. And the best part was is that it was a convertable Mustang!!!! I think if I had the Juice on level 3, he wouldn't have gotten that close. I notice a big difference between 2 and 3. I keep it on 2 because I have the trailer on the truck most of the time. I need tranny upgrades if I want to do this on level 4 and 5!!!! My cousin said that it didn't seem like we were doing 95mph. I didn't have a chance to look at EGT's because I was looking at the road and my mirrors. It was fun. You know that I have the 6 speed and it's pretty slow through the gears; but I tell folks that I'll take them on from like 70mph to 100mph. Most of them look at me like I'm nuts!!!! Talk soon.

I'm sorry, but ***? All these guys wanted to do was pass you. Admittedly, the guy riding your bumper was a jerk, but, to be honest, I'd say you were much more of a jerk than this guy. He moved to pass you (passing on the right on a 3+ lane highway is legal) and you wouldn't let him pass. People who do that are spiteful, petty and childish.

No one's trying to "take you", they just want by you. Period. No testosterone in just passing because you're going slower than they want to go. In fact, I'd say the only testosterone problem is with you guys who feel you've proven your manhood by not letting someone pass you and then claiming you beat them in some sort of race or contest. Sheesh.

Sheesh Joel, I think your reading more into this than what it really is. Some people with sports cars do actually LIKE to race. They problably don't like to lose to big trucks though. Both my races on the Highway with the Neon and the Wrx were late at night with very little traffic and either one of them could have slowed down at any time. If neither of them had not wanted to race I would have let off and let them go on their way.

Both cases were almost identical. I was cruising along at about 65 in middle lane and got passed by them in the left lane. I turned my box up and kinda of hung back behind them. Both times as I caught up to them they tried to take off. Then I passed them in the middle lane Each time I slowed back down they would catch up to me and I could hear them get on it so We went again. I think the guy in the Subaru was more upset that he couldn't pass me back until I let off. The Third time against him I went up to about 105mph and let off. Then he put me in my place by going up to about 140mph(just a guess) and was gone.

Oh, and the guy with the Mustang was in the left lane and I was in the right lane. At the next light, after I stopped him from passing me, I turned right and he turned left. That means he was not trying to pass me, He was trying to RACE me. Just a little fun SHEESH!

Joel, if ya met Dorkweed you'd think he did not have any Testosterone glands at all Thats why I asked him if that was the first time he ever floored it in his truck. I can't not floor it in my truck

Guys, I had a little jousting with a Buick Grand National, fully restored 3.8 turbo....now that's a car. We pulled up to the lights and I gave him the left lane. I went 7 6 and had him clean by 70 mph. He didn't give up and waited for the next passing lane. He pulled up beside waited and then we went I had him until about 106 mph...**** fuel cut off. If i went 8 7 which I can do on a cool night once locked into od I would have had him easy. I haven't lost to a truck of any sort yet and can't remember any cars that have made it past. Closest was an Acura gsx-r...got just enough to pull in at the end of the passing lane, just. That was on 7 5. On high I would have smoked him both ways. Play hard, keep it safe, ks

Smoked a Mustang Yesterday. It's hard to roll the Mustang in the cigarrette paper to smoke it.

Yeah, that's about the response I expected. Just further proves my point.

If you want to race - though how that improves your apparent lacking manhood is completely beyond me - go for it. But if someone wants to pass you on the road, friggin' let them.

Joel, I've got a 'stang, and you wouldn't believe how many idiots want to race.

edit: I will fess up here.... I did outrun a red Dodge 2500 4x4 CTD on I-70 west of 'Balmer a few years ago. It took a longer pull than I thought it would. Thats the day that I stopped looking at Powerstrokes, and visited a Dodge dealer for the first time. The rest is history. Thank you Mr. Red Dodge CTD.
