My dad has one.
He used to have a Pathfinder, but he traded up to the Isuzu.

heck no, 20 isn't too late. i started young, haven't done it since i joined the marine corps, but be prepared for a lot of bruises, having a lady to tend to you afterwards is always a help

Ha ha Phox - is it a 4x4? Heard those were real SUV's

I don't rodeo but my brothers and uncles do. My brother is 42 and oldest uncle is "70" and still going.
So no you are not too old.

Go hang out at some smaller arenas on weekends and watch a few guys. Then pick one out and ask him to teach you. He or she will be more than happy to do so. Because you have watched them for 2-3 weekends and you know the person is friendly and not out kicking dogs.

My brother here in Dallas ropes every weekend and wins us a new horse trailer at least 3 times a year.
My uncle in Brookshire, TX hosts a rodeo every November. I will hit you up when I know the date this year.

OH, none of them are bull riders. Just Roping and the girls barrel racing.

your not to old

heck, your not to old. still plenty young.

what do you wanna get into. rough stock? roping. can you ride a horse?
rough stock is tuff on ya. i rode saddle at junior rodeos, then high school rodeos, and was filling my PRCA card when i got my back busted up. i was 19 when it happend, and 7 years latter my back is still out of wack. it was fun times, but i look back on it now, with a sore back, and wish i would have just team roped and calf roped. though my calf ropin horse bucked me off once coming out of the box and i slide on my head, ripping half my ear off. she was a rank lil you know what. but she could work a calf, and stop good.

either way it can take a toll on ya. you ant to young though. go for it while you still can.

Bob.

it has been one of many dreams of mine to be a steer-wrestler. every time i tell someone this, i always get the same reply- "now why in the ____ would anyone wanna jump off a perfectly good horse?" well, i would love to rodeo and i suck w/ a rope and am not crazy enough to bronc or bull ride. plus who wouldnt wanna tackle a 500lb animal?

I use to ride broncs. I'm either too old or just smarter now. I still break and train horses and mules though. My youngest son rides bulls. Oldest son said he would rather raise and sell bulls than ride them. It's always good to see someone in the family has sense. 20 is far from to old.

Look up Lyle Sankey rodeo schools and check out some of the rodeo forums. Humps and Horns has a website as well as a few others that might allow you to find a practice barn or school in your area. Most small towns have local events where the guys there will be more than willing to teach you how. That's how my boy started although he is enrolled in Sankey's school this summer. Most guys that rodeo are more than willing to share what they know and help someone out. Cowboy Up.
