By popular demand (meaning the janitor gets what he wants)... I introduce,
"Road Rage" Road Armor. Not quite finished. It will be getting pre-runner style tubeing up top. The bottom is to get a center plate tilted 45 deg, and a triangular plate on each side tilted back 45 deg to match and angled up towards the existing corners. The cross member is set up for a future solid axle/leaf spring swap. Winch in the center. Heavy sucker, the whole thing is 3/8" steel.

Going to work on old dog Thursday, been working on getting garden rototilled, and pulling stumps in the garden. Some day ill have them all out , 9 more left.
Eaven after cutting most of the roots it sure made the ranger squat pulling them out. Got 5 out , one monster.

shoot Don, I should have dropped off those Jeep axles! use the JCB to lift up your pedal pusher and align, WD40 the springs R & R, make mounts and go!

Nice catch ChrisR BUT CHAIKWA'S coffee would have dented or ate a hole in the concrete,
punctured the hydronic heat tubing and made a nice fountain in Scott's shop for inside viewing.....

 

Thanks guys, actually it is a prototype for the big truck. But the brush gaurds will be different. The big truck is gonna be more like scaffolding or like you see on forest service fire trucks. Claude, it actually helped the ride, but i need to tweek the torsion bars a hair. The baal joints and cv shafts are notorious for ware without the added weight, so the solid axle swap is a MUST down the road. If I hadn't already planned a swap, I would have used lighter steel. It'll be black one way or the other. I already have a new, black grill and a new hood and a new driver door. Just need to pick up some rockers yet.

 

BIG truck? You mean like this one we built in the early 90's? COOL! I can't wait for that project to start!

No plans yet Claude. Right now I'm trying to round up some torch parts so I can get some pieces ready. Have to look into a lead on some Jeep J-20 axles. Hafta make sure I can still get the rotors and stuff off for replacement from sitting awhile.

 

I have a cousin in California, He use to be a machinest. He and his sons build some sand rails, and they built a tube bender. torched some large tube and ysed that to build diffrent jigs to hold tube then they used a large hydrolic jack welded into place and welded a plate on the tip that allows them to change the head. said it works really slick.
Hope that gives you an idea.
