RC Rock Crawler

At the risk of sounding a little juvenile, Im going to ask if anyone is into RC cars. The boy and I have a few cheepie RC trucks that we play with in the street. The batteries dont last long and they dont have much capability off road. I got on youtube and saw some really high tech looking trucks that were wheeling and they looked just like the real thing. Solid axles, cross over steering, tons of flex and it just looked cool. Where would you get something like that and what would I expect to pay. Of course, Im going to need two of them. I looked online but there are endless options and I want something that looks realistic. The ones I saw were 80's Toyota Hilux trucks, one with a trailer. I also saw an F350 and another Dodge that was just rolling over everything. Anyhow, any help would be great. Keep the comments to yourself.

There was a segment on RC 4 wheeling on the last episode of 4x4 on powerblock. Just google powerblock tv and click on the extereme 4x4 tab hope this helps.

Go to Here >>> http://www.rccrawler.com/ for all your RC Crawler needs. I have one I built from scratch and love it. I do need the new Lithium batteries as they last much longer and give better torque.

A budie of mine bought a small one to play with in the house durring the winter and that thing was a blast. He bought it ready to run from Hobby Town and all he had to do was charge the batteries and go. He did wind up modifying it as time went on but it was fun and ready to go rite outa the box. It was an exact scale model of a rock bugy and looked and acted like the real thing. This thing was the smallest scale they make but a blast to play with. He was goan build one from scrach using axles from a Clod Buster kit and have it be huge. He had it figured up that he would wind up with around $1500 in it but he never got to build it. He was in a car accident this summer and is in coma now. His fiancee and parents saved all his RC toys hoping some day he will be able to play with them again and hopefully we can build that huge crawler some day. There are websites full of everything you could need to build or buy one.

I have a trophy truck in the closet somewhere... Its reasonably fast, but its more of something to run wide open on the track rather than trying to crawl with.

I saw the episode of extreme 4x4, looks like a lot of fun, but $1000 is a bit pricy for a toy.

Search for nylint rock crawler. Me and my bro had them, mine got left in the rain, his is still good. They articulate like crazy, have cool tires that act like the real thing on rocks, and have selectable gears on the controller. They would climb almost anything we threw at them. Tons of fun, and like $50 new. They were discontinued but still avail on ebay.

I've been into R/C cars since the late 80's. The new rock crawlers are really cool, and the electronics are way better.

You could go realistic, but you're going to need to put alot of money into those ..... and since you need two, ouch. You might want to look at Team Losi rock crawlers, or the ones Traxxas makes. Both of these are in the 1/18 scale class and are fantastic little trucks.

If these are gonna be for your kids get them something they can beat up a little and keep the realistic one for yourself.

I don't have a rock crawler, but I do have a nitro truck that's a lot of fun for running in the backyard. It's a blast but a little pricey at times.

I used to get my stuff from towerhobbies.com back in the day. You looking for a rock crawler or something that can go off road. The nitro t-maxx's are pretty sweet.

nitro isn't the answer for a rock crawler. I have a T-Max and an 1/8 scale buggy and they are way too much fun. The helicpters are fun to but have to sell em since I don't fly enough anymore (no time). Too high of rmp and the not able to slow crawl. We have R/C rock crawling competitions at the yearly offroad gathering (coming up next march). A group comes out and sets up a course and it is very fun. Cool to watch the little buggies flex and have to do the same stuff the big counterparts do.
