Which Pressure Washer
Which Pressure Washer
Howdy, I was looking at pressure washers at Sears the other day. They had one that was 3000 psi, on about 2.5 gpm and powered by a Honda 190. I plan to use the washer for general cleaning, vehicles, equipment, house etc. My question: Is this a good size for the proposed job? Would a lower pressure unit be better for cleaning vehicles?
Thanks

The pressure washers have a variety of nozzles based on application. So you can run the high pressure machine, but use a nozzle that won't strip your paint.
I would advise looking at models other than Craftsman at Sears. I've got one and it's a good machine, but when they break down, Sears isn't much on repair. I had one that developed a leak in the pump unit which I figured was a leaking o-ring that could be fixed pretty easily. Instead, it was a full pump replacement since they don't do any rebuilds. They said it was indeed just a leaking o-ring, but they don't "repair" them and don't sell replacement seals. So it was a $250 bill for a few dollar part. I checked with some other repair shops and everyone said they could work on the engine, but if it was pump everything had to come from Sears.

I was in a similar dilema about a year ago. Do your research, I found that alot of the home use pressure washers have issues with the pump breaking. I went with a Rigid 3000 psi 2.6gpm washer which was more expensive than most but the reviews are what sold me on it. It has worked great for me to this day. Pressure washed the front of a brick 6000sf home a few fences, sidewalks, cars, 4 wheelers and motorcycles. Not one hiccup.
