Spots- The 330 is very nice. We drove the 325xi yesterday (again), except in the 5 speed this time. The wife likes it better than the auto. There was a 330xi next to the 325xi, and the sticker was 45,600.00 compared to the 32,500.00 for the manual 325xi.

Money smoney. Can't take it with you. I don't want the awd only the 2wd so it may be a couple bucks cheaper. We talked again tonight so we shall go looking this weekend and dump the F250 I think. Stick is the only way to go with a BMW.

Hehe- BMW either with stick or with the electronic sequential tranny - but it would have to be an M3 then. That's a shocking vehicle. Power and road handling quite imbecile. And now there is the new M5. Looking like a smaller family limo, 500hp stock. (Should be out this year)- That's gonna be fun. 520s dressed up to be M5s and M5s dressed down to look like 520s.
The BMW AWD is really nice because it lets you still feel the rear wheel drive agility. On the other hand the VW system is made to be always neutral. (Extremely easy to drive)
I'd go for the BMW over the VW for many reasons. (One of them is that I can't get a comfortable position in the VW seats opposed to the BMW)

No kidding M5...There are only about 30,000 reasons holding me back from one of those, and they're all dollars . I think we settled on the 325xi manual. Now we just have to get rid of the Trooper.

Thanks for all the replies.

Too bad the new 5-series is so ugly. On behalf of all Americans, I'd like to apologize for those Bangle designs. I hope BMW can recover now that he's been kicked upstairs.

Jim- I second the ugliness of the new series. But see at least the new M5 is fast enough so the average driver won't have to endure seeing this ugly duckling in front of him for long.

Marine: I's just money Support our econmy I think the 325ix with the manual tranny is a good decision. I feel sorry for you that you don't get the diesels. Do you get the station or the limo? I like the looks of the station. (Called touring over here)

I like the new 5 series. However, if I could afford it, I'd like the 745. $85,000.00
Do you mean the sedan or the wagon? It would be the sedan. The diesel would be great!

Marine: I actually like the looks of the wagon better than the looks of the sedan. But that's just me. Both are great vehicles. Did you look at the BMW X5 too? I don't know about pricing etc in the US but over here you can get an X5 with a 3.0 gasser the same as in the 330 and for let's say not too much more than the 325 ix. (with comparable options)

The X5 is about 45,000 here. That is what got my wife looking at BMW's. It is too much right now.

Spots-I set my sights hi.
