Old war horses and their stables.......

A place is needed for us old guys.
Stables of sorts would more than be fit.
Where we could come in and drink a beer with each other.
And for others of us we could just chew and spit.

Our language sometimes gets spectacular.
Our minds may wander thru the night.
But our feelings we wish you'd remember.
Were very real then be they wrong or be they right.

The events of these days are uncomprehendable.
For those that have never been there.
We may call you cherrys and new guys.
We do it cause we really care.

Where we were then was really unpopular.
What we were doing sometimes was insane.
But in closing I would ask you.
Please spare these troops our pain.

We came home and faced protesters.
Spit in our face was not unknown.
So when our guys do get back.
Hug them and say "GI, welcome home."

Shortround out

I kind of thought that too. Maybe a new forum for our war heroes?? I think all of the "new forum" suggestions are pretty much being shot down though.

Re:Old war horses and their stables.......

Being back from a couple in my 15 some odd years with the Navy. I'd like to say that we are comming home to better than my dads generation did. Vietnam was a bad time for all and I hope it never comes to that again. My family and I would like to thank you for going through that for us and give you our heart felt respect for enduring all that the Jane Fondas could dish out. I hope no other military has to live though it again. We are trained to serve and protect, to live by the double standards, to recieve less pay, to live by the hurry up and wait concept and then watch as the Gov takes away our benefits a little bit at a time. We must be a strange breed sause I for one wouldn't have missed it for the world! Proud to serve! Semper Gumby on a need to know basis.
