My daughter at college in Wyo is driving a 1990 Volvo. It has an electrical problem in the headlight switch. It will come on after the car is turned off and drain the battery. The repalcement switch is outrageous.

?? can I put in a a switch in the car tha will basically disconnect the battery?

thanks

I used to have an old Volvo ('87 740 wagon), and used to buy parts from ipdusa.com - they had some pretty good prices.

Not sure what model you have but here are some switches:

I have a friend that had a similar problem. Installed a battery cutoff switch and solved the problem. Just had to reset radio stations if you wanted them...

Since it is a 17 year old car I would opt for a batt cut off switch. Either that or a the correct switch from a junkyard. I just bought a good batt switch from Academy for $17.
As to the radio you could just run a fused jumper to the radio presets function to hold the cannels and the clock. The draw would be mimimal.

www.car-parts.com is where I always look first. If for nothing else than pricing info for different areas of the country.
