Post O-rings

Looking in an automotive catalog, I see green colored HNBR O-rings, Nitrile O-rings, Viton O-rings, Rubber O-rings, and I am sure there are numerous others.

What are the applications for the above mentioned types??

What type is original in the fuel system of a 1st Gen. Cummins??

What type is recommended for use in ultra-low sulphur fuel??

What type for vegetable oil fuel??

If I were to buy an O-ring assortment, what type should I buy for general use in a diesel fuel system, that would also hold up in engine oil, power-steering fluid, vegetable oil, etc.??

Thanks.

Man, my head is still swimming after staring at all those brilliant red and green squares, sort of like a hangover at a disco.

Thanks.

MIKEY B, so you are saying that VITON is the O-ring of choice for diesel automotive use??

Thanks.

We use Nitrile 90 durometer for our applications.
Nitrile is resistant to almost everything.
90 Durometer is the hardness of the nitrile. its fairly hard as O-rings go so its more wear and cut resistant.

HNBR is a variation on NBR (Nitrile)
