Non-Christians?

Noticed the Christian thread and decided to give the other side a voice. Please don’t take this as arguing. If I wanted to argue I would have posted this in the Christian thread. I figure this thread will be much shorter anyway due to the large number of Christians on this forum.

I'll be the first....

I myself am a non-practicing agnostic. Besides, I'm too lazy to "practice" anything.

Any takers?

Britt

I'm somewhere inbetween. I'm not a believer, but I do follow christian ethic rules, and think there's a lot of good stuff in the bible, but also in the koran and the other religious books.

I don't fit into the category you're asking for (again...see signature), but I do appreciate that you started a separate thread instead of posting in the other one and (possibly) starting a big religious debate.

I was surprised, nay, shocked that you didn't voice an opinion in the Christian? thread.

Thanx for excersising a little restraint.

Oh, I was raised LDS (Mormon if you prefer and Yes, Mormons are Christians) but fell away as I grew older and wiser.

I'm not an Athiest, as I am pretty darn sure there is a higher power.

Each of the major and minor religions has their good points, but also has their questionable points.

I'd have to go along with Alpine's thoughts as Christian ethics are good to live by.

Always been a firm believer that organized religion is just a way to control the masses. Not agnostic, not aethiest. Whether you do good or bad comes from within and you control your own destiny.

One thing I found out for my life is that it's good to respect other people's beliefs. There is something to those beliefs, they may be a very vital aspect of their lives. So belittling or ridiculing them is going to cause these people pain. And a basic principle of ethics is to do unto others as you want them to do unto you.
Even though I am really fed up with the opinons and actions of some of the prominent members or even "executives" of the major religions I think there's no reason to a: discredit the whole religion and b: to project this anger onto all members of that religion.

We were kind enough to stay out of your thread, so please keep the preaching out of this one.

I believe in a higher power but not in organized religion. They all say you are going to hell if you worship a false god so there are a lot of people going to hell if that is the case. I am not going to beat them drum for any of them.

I kinda like what TomW said........all 3 times

I hate the entire "worship or go to hell" stance which so many preachers follow...
So incredibly stupid... Stupid bloody preachers always trying to put religion in economic cause and effect structures; the entire "do this to get here" notion, while correct, is absolutely worthless to a real Christian... It misses the point entirely, and ya'll are prime examples on why it is such an incredibly stupid message to send. Arg...

More folk have been turned away from Christianity by ignorant, unempathetic and arrogant pastors and preachers than have adotped the idea...
