Chevy Duramax..
HOWEVER... my ram isnt going anywhere.. it will be the play toy.. Too much done to it to wanna let it go... I like the allison and the easy BOMBability of a duramax, all plug and play, hoever i wanna wait to see when they can get injector issues solved....and other minute kinks outta those trucks... Perhaps later on...

Top's Younger Twin
I want to see what a long bed Dually Mega Cab looks like and I am even considering going back to a 4x2 as I do 99% highway and tow lots.
Still a manual transmission though.
I may try and do this before the changes in the engines for 07 or wait it out until the new version is out for a few years.
The only other truck I would look at is a full size Toyota diesel dually.

anything with a 12V! Dont care if it is a ford pinto with a trailer hitch. I waited 10 years to find my dream truck (95) and she aint going anywhere. As far as a Duramax, not a chance! It could be the best motor in the world but I will not ever buy a new chevy again. GM has lost my loyalty forever. I will import a KIA pick up from korea and install a cummins first!

Don't plan on ever having to buy another truck. Heck in just 18 more years I can put antique plates on it. I figure the Cummins will last forever. Plus I will never buy a new truck. I don't buy new vehicles due to the depreciation. Let somebody alse take that big hit. . If I can find a small diesel pickup someday, I might buy it in addition to my current truck. But I won't be getting rid of this one.

my next rig is gunna be one of two things. they both are going to be built, just dont know which one first.
1. a 12 valve cummmins 800hp streetable race truck. dunno what body ill put on it... and old chevy or a dodge
2. a 8.3 or a detroit 60 series powered service truck. like a 3 ton rig or so. This will be my work truck when i become a heavy diesel mechanic.
Big plans. they just need a little time and a lot of money to become reatlity

Toyota! Gotta love the cummins but to much money. My dad has a 2000 tacoma and hes got 190k on it. He has only done 1 set of front brakes @ 130k, and springs and struts. Thats it. It is a 2.7 4cyl 5speed and gets 24mpgs. I would buy another first gen dodge but not a new one. Something about the old things, they are just biult stronger.

Dang sure won't be another Dodge!
Ride, resale value, and poor quality are the main reasons I have grown to dislike this truck.
Kinda sad, ya know. I mean, the CUMMINS is the best thing out there for these 1 ton trucks. The Dodge with a CUMMINS is like having a "Diamond" wrapped up in a pile of Dog Poop.
I'll get my wasted monies worth out of this truck/pile of <edit>, and then it'll be GM from here on out for the rest of my life................................
(If this offends anyone, Big Whoop!)
Don't hold back.....tell us how you REALLY feel

As long as I am working, about 8-10 more years, and pulling a travel trailer I will stick with the 4x4 DC. Once I retire if I get another truck it will probably be a small 4x2. My previous truck was a 97 Ford Ranger. I put 250K miles on it in 7 years, it was completely trouble free, and got 23 to 25 MPG on the highway. I would love to have another diesel but when I retire I won't be able to justify the extra cost.

There's no option for AMC...
Those old Jeep J Series were the best pick-ups ever made... Our trucks still have a little bit of that AMC blood in them, so that's why I prefer Chrysler...
Now a 4bta in a J-2000... Hmm...
