The beta testing is over. Get the production stuff because they really tightened it up.

Oh I have the production versions. But we are still beta testing because of the hardware. The images are customized for each the platforms.

I've had a lot of bad experiences with HP, and always liked Dell. Once I bought my apple (pricey), I realized there was NOTHING else comparable equally priced or more. The build quality is top notch, and it runs windows better than my PC.

Just something to think about (provided your budget allows )

Woah!, Easy there big fella'... I didn't mean to offend...
You are likely an expert IT professional at what you do day-in, day-out and are seldom confounded by things that make others feel like doing this to themselves...
But I've had to be my family's help desk for most of Bill Gates offerings... And, I've lived through enough problems with virtually all previous M-S OS releases at work, that I wanted to avoid any self-inflicted difficulties with the "newest", "flashiest" and the "most powerful" version of MS stuff for my wife to use on the road.
*I* have never messed with Vista, but my learned IT friends have dealt with it on more than enough occasions here at work to recognize there are more concerns with this brand new OS than what is being widely supported within our company(XP). (hence my asking their learned opinion on Vista, and recognizing it's future solidity after it matures a bit more..)

Granted, I should have never blundered into the instantly polarizing, and intractably debated hotbutton topic of Apple-vs-MS! Please forget I even mentioned Apple!...
But, my learned IT coworkers (I dare say, like you) have been able to make a very good living dealing with, and fixing difficulties in MicroSoft's products over the long-haul. They do it all day long with MS and go home to their own preferred brands.
Like a Diesel mechanic.. It is job security.. Whether he personally drives a Ford, or a Dodge diesel is his business. Whether he enjoys having to fix problems with his own vehicle when he's off is up to him. I don't...
I like having a diesel vehicle that is astounding in it's reliability, and simple to troubleshoot and repair. Same with the laptops.. I love not HAVING to deal with computers when I am away from them at work.

I bought an XP platform so I WON'T have to become an instant expert on Vista just so my wife can run her apps. There will be a time for Vista in our house, but not yet...
