Thanks for the help Phox , but if you do come up with something, i would appreciate being put in the loop.
Wannadiesel PM'D me about the truck , turns out he did the KDP in that particular truck ,so i hope maybe he has a phone # for Gus.
I checked into importing a vehicle, and it is actually not that bad.
You need to have the title , receipt etc when you get to the border , proof that the vehicle met Us vehicle safty standards when it was assembled , and proof that it has no recalls , or all recall work has been performed in the US.
that is to get across the border, once here it needs to have an inspection done, and any problems , you have 45 days to correct.
It doesn't seem like much of a problem to me?

You will also have to pay GST on it and probably get daytime running lamps installed.
Yes DRL was also a requirement , what all is involved in adding DRL to a US truck? just plug the relay in? or is there more to it.
I know what i read said you had to change the gages to metric , but that it was actually provided by the inspection station.

Errm.... The US does have a requirement that any vehicle to be exported shall have the export papers presented 72 hours prior to export. Althouth canada customs is not in the buisness of enforcing us laws and you can import the vehicle without the wait they very strongly advise (as do I) you follow the export rules and wait the 72 hours and present the export documents to us customs.
The big hurdle you have is where do you safely park a vehicle on the us side of the boarder for three days while the paperwork goes through....

I thought that would have applied more so to someone from the US , who was selling vehicles to someone outside of the US , such as a dealer , manufacturer , etc. Not to someone from outside the US who bought a vehicle and was taking it home.
From what i read , i show them my paperwork at the border, pay my fee , and head on my merry way home. I can't remember the timeline , but the vehicle has to be inspected , and i have 45 days to fix anything that doesn't pass the inspection.
But i can't get anywhere with no phone number.
