Thanks for all the recommendations. Slim means 6'1" tall and 185lb. other than needing to do some situps I'm in decent shape considering that I don't work out at all other than working hard most days. It's possible that I could have some medical issue but I had no problems before I started driving the manual trans everyday. I do have the hydraulic upgrade for the clutch too #2. As far as floating the gears, I haven't tried it but it doesn't do much good when I am in stop and go for a good part of my commute. That's where the problem lies...
I wish I could just sell my house and move to the country where it wouldn't matter but that's out of the question at this point in time...

Ah Jeeze Mike,,,,,,
Just come on by the house and drop off your truck. Take my auto and use it till you move out to the country. We can trade em back then,,,,,,
I'm sure you can work out a good deal on a new auto truck, plus the way you keep yours,,,, you shouldn't lose too much in the deal.

Welcome to middle age, I drove (almost) nothing but sticks for over 20 years mostly in town, I'm also an electrician by trade so I spend at least half of my days climbing up and down ladders. In my early forty's it finally started getting to me in my left knee, hurt/sore all the time. Finally had to bite the bullet and go to an auto. The good news is my knee doesn’t bother me anymore and that’s important to me, there are certainly times when I wished I had a stick still but you got to take care of your body, you still have quite a bit of your life left to go. I recommend Aleve (actually I use store brand naproxen sodium) to reduce the inflammation (when I'm already hurting I take two in the morning with something to eat and one at night 220 mg) it works well for my ankle and back. I also take generic Glucosamine Chondroitin at recommended dosage, it does help for me (after a while) as long as you remember to take it, I also take a natural multi vitamin. Hope you’re feeling better soon

I don't want a 6.7l. The only thing I would like on a new one would be that 6 speed auto......
I'll think about your offer OK I thought about it No..........

Hoss, you are right about a workout does everybody good. I just don't feel like doing it. We have a nice eliptical machine that I could get on if the feeling struck me. It's just much easier laying down and watching TV after work. I have work boots but my legs are even more tired after work when I wear them. I try to get good shoes with gel soles since I work on a concrete floor all day long plus being on and off the forklift all day. They don't seem to work though. I had a customer in here a couple weeks ago who was wearing these crazy shoes with springs on the heels and he said he had two blown out knees and those shoes made his legs feel like new again. Those were the craziest looking shoes ever and there is no way I would wear them.......

And who let you back in here by the way Hoss??????

Well, I don't know your particular traffic situation, but when I drove my 82 Ferd with the granny 4-speed, in traffic I'd put it in first and just idle down the road, seldom having to stop. I let everyone else do the stop and go stuff, and if they cut in front of me, who cares? I had my tunes and was resigned to the slow traffic. It helped the stress too. I do the same with the auto, except that the TC in my 96 will do over 25mph at an idle so I have to ride the brake all the time with that, in traffic.
You might be able to find yourself a suitable 2007 5.9 out there, on Ebay or some other place used.

Hey...you don't have to tell me. I'm hitting the gym 6 days a week right now because back in January I got the bright idea to try and lose 70 pounds this year. The fact that I still have 20 to go and less than 5 weeks to do it has me doing double-time right now. Laying on the couch and watching TV would sure be a lot easier than watching TV from an elliptical machine in the gym.

The concrete floor certainly doesn't help you...and that's coming from someone who loves concrete.

And who let you back in here by the way Hoss??????
I picked the lock.

Well, I may have a deal in the works already..... I love the truck and will deal with it if i don't sell it. I don't mind popping a few pills to make me feel better. Those dang Osteo-Biflex pills are huge though!!!!

Stamey, I do as you said though in just putting it in first or second gear and moving slowly forward instead of going and stopping the whole way down the road. There's still alot of stop and go though.....

Maybe adjust your seat forward a little so that when your clutch is depressed, your leg is still bent a little and not over extended. Probly a little easier on the joints.

I sit so my knees are almost hitting the dash. I also have my adjustable pedals adjusted for optimum comfort.

You guys can keep on trying to help but you just will not be able to fix the fact that I am a wus and I am getting old!!!!

when you go to mcdonalds, do you get the frechcries and a wha-burger...stop your crying ya little sister girl

its heck getting old!!

i miss shifting gears, but when i think about all of it i would be doing in traffic it makes me tolerate what i have...its a shame we cant have the best of both worlds! i know what you said about getting a commuter car, but 1k would get you a heck of an auto beater that would probably make better fuel milage. i want to get something like that so i can pimp it out at walmart and drive it all crazy

Driving in Tampa traffic for 4 months really opened my eyes. I started to hate all the shifting.

Then I realized it was the traffic I hated, not my transmission.
