I am in Moab for easter jeep safari and I had to chance to talk with Fred Diaz face to face after the unveiling of the new SRT8 GC. I asked him about the light duty diesel program and also about getting a diesel in a power wagon.
He told me not to expect one in the next few months. Does that mean we can look for one in a year or two? He told me the biggest hurdle is pricing. He said the they could put a light duty diesel in a half ton today and sell it tomorrow but the the problem is the price of the new engine would, according to him, put the price of the truck out of reach for most truck buyers. and he had the same answer for the question about getting diesels in the power wagon.
Anyway it was really cool getting to talk to the CEO of RAM and how interested he seemed to be.

 

So I guess there is still some hope? I would love to see it happen!!
