I have ridden and owned Polaris and Yamaha. The only problem with the my 2001 Big Bear is it tends to not idle high enough and die. I have had several experenced ATV guys look at it and it needs a card rebuild, for some reason the adjustment is broke and does not work. The Polaris turned into complete junk after a year or so. I got to ride a year old Grizzly 660 last month for 4 days while i was at a ranch. My only complaint with it was IT KEPT DIEING when i would come to a stop just like the old Big Bear! I had never ridden or owned a Honda. There name is good enought that i would consider buying one though.

The RZR is faster (55 for the RZR; 40 for the Rhino), lighter, narrower, lower center of gravity, costs less, but doesnt have the ground clearance and has lost quit a bit of the utility that the Rhino has. It also has a rougher ride and doesnt have as much room inside as the Rhino. The Rhino is more the do-it-all side-by-side, whereas the RZR is more of a racer-type, if you know what I mean.

How about a Grizzly. check this one.

This is my son's. It runs great and has lot's of power. I'm not "wheeler" but I know fast stuff. It's a "swimmer" too. I saw a video of them going across a creek with just the handle bars and top of the tank showing. Wheels a churning. haha

I guess you need to look at what other qualities you would like.

Are you into big power? If so, I'd look at twins like the Outlander 800, or the new Thundercat 1000, maybe the Polaris 800 or Brute Force 750.

Do you want solid rear axle or independent rear? Solid axles tend to feel more sporty and corner more flatly. IRS tends to beat a person up much less, which would be a factor if you do all day rides on rough stuff, and they also tend to have better ground clearance w/o the gear case hanging down.

If you want simple, foot shift, solid axle, I don't think you can go wrong with the 500 Foreman. If you prefer an auto, or will plow in tight places the Rubicon would be a good choice (faster to shift between forward/reverse).

Since it sounds like you are leaning toward Honda, their top of the line is the Rincon. I really like mine, but they are kind of different, so be sure to ride one to see if it's right for you. It's Honda's only IRS machine, and rides super-plush. Like I mentioned before, the lack of a low gear mainly bothers me in the "try not to flip over forward" type steep decents. I also don't understand why Honda didn't put power steering on their best riding most comfortable machine.

The Griz 700 would be on my short list, if I were looking for another machine. IRS, power steering, low range EFI...

Outlaw 500 and 525 are performance quads from Polaris.

KTM is a race proven motor and very reliable, at least mine is it might blow today but it has proven itself to me.
i have never raced anything over a 700 raptor but i didnt have a problem staying in front of em at the dragstrip.

its all in what you want 4x4 or 2x4 the only thing i would even consider trading the outlaw in on is a can-am but dang they are too expensive!

i guess it all boils down to if your gonna play you gotta pay!

The Can-Am Outlander 800XT gets my vote. Once you look at them, you won't want anything else.

I have an '07 Rincon 680. Love it. But Jeff in TD is right. The low gear would be a plus to have. I have experience. I was going down a steep grade and I flipped over forward. Wheeler came down on me and I landed right on my neck. Knocked me out, locked my vertebrae in place in my neck and back. Didn't break anything and I was lucky to be alive. Thanks to my helmet. It was cracked from back to halfway up to the top. The Rincon flipped around eleven or twelve times. Set the tire back on the bead, and ran it for another three hours then went to the hospital. I really wish I had a low gear and now I cannot go down steep grades. But that's just because I see it happen again and again and I don't want to try to go down the hills. On the other hand, I can climb pretty much any hill with no problems. Love it to death still. Won't change quads unless they come out with a low gear!!

The Can-Am/Bombardier has the best engine braking system out there, as well as a low and high gear.
