?Lyme Disease?

My wife has been sick for 4 months and they finally diagnoesd her with lyme disease. kinda double edge sword, nice to know what she has so she can get treated and hopefully get better.

I am wondering if anybody here has had friend/ family member that has had this and how they recovered? I know quite a bit about the disease, but was just curious if someone might have experience with this disease.

Thx

My sister has it.

Not real good, she went 2 years before being diagnosed, that was 15 or so years ago. Outwardly, she shows no signs, but supposedly it is not what you would call a "curable" disease.

I think they may have made strides since then, I remember her having to set for almost 8 hours while a bag of Rocephin ( sp? ) antibiotic dripped in her IV to the tune of 800 bucks a day for 14 straight days.

If you want, I can ask her for any other things, just let me know.

That is what I have read, I know that can go into remission like cancer. it seems to be the most mis diagnosed disease out there. they first told she ahd MS, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, DEPRESSION (that poed me cause the dr just said that cause she started crying in his office and he didn't know what was wrong with her). I would be upset too if I felt like i was dying for several months and they didn't know what was wrong with me.

She is has 3 strands from what the specialist said, lyme, irricleosous, and babiosus (spelling?) Anyway, she apparently was already carrying a strand and was re infected which then teamed up and attacked her body.

she has a long road ahead. yeah any info would be great. it has been really rough, i just want my wife back.

~cheers

My buddy has it also. From talking to him I think how you recover and the severity of it depends on what strand you have and if the doctors can find out exactly what stand it is. He said there are hundreds. He can not seem to get a handle on his. He will be fine for a few months and then not able to get out of bed for a week or so. He is only 34 and he says he feels like he is 100.
On the other hand my wifes grandfather had rocky mountain spotted fever, which it is my understanding is a type of lyme, and he was sick as a dog for about 2 months and now he is just fine. He is 80 years old and still delivering mail every single day.
I wish you and especially your wife luck. I hope everything turns out fine. it sounds like she is already ahead of my buddy since the doctors know what stand is ailing her...

thx for sharing your story and the goodwill. I hope that your friend finds a cure soon and can get back to a normal life. his circumstance is exactly what my wife is concerned about. just before this happened we were getting ready to start trying for kids and now she fears that she will not be able to. one of the many concerns she has. thanks again.

Jezz, hang in there buddy, my sister had a kid long after she had contracted Lymes, so it can be done.

I talked to her last night and she gave me a website, I will look at it and post it later.

It seems that she is more ahead of the game than my buddy. Since her doctors know what strand she has it should be treatable. It is my understanding that if you can not pin point the strand, that is when you have a long road ahead of you.
BTW, any idea how she got it? my buddy got his bowhunting from a deer tick.

The Dr thinks that she has been carrying a strand for over a year and got re bit late this summer, which the tick was carrying at least two more strands, hence they teamed up and attacked her body. From what I have read, the time frame that have had it without being treated plays a big role in recovery.

we are very outdoorsy people, have two labs and they sleep on the bed often. I used to be a logger too and my lab got a lot of ticks in the spring. She also has been out turkey hunting with me a few times, but we are not certain when she bit.
