Loss of a Brother
Loss of a Brother
Sorry to be the guy who puts bad things in but it will help me. Loss of a Brother, Friday morning at 0230 hours Officer Andrew Widman was shot and killed in the line of duty, leaveing behind a wife and three childern. He was shot once in the face by the bad guy (aka DIRT BAG!!!!), who was involed in a domstic dispute with his girlfriend in front of a local night club, who then fled and was later shot by fellow officers from Officers Widman's department and killed (the only good thing about the whole mess). It hit very close to home I have several good friends who work for the department Officer Widman worked for and my heart and prays go out to them and the family of Officer Widman. He made the Ultimate Sacrifice for his community. For those who would like to read the story you can log onto www.news-press.com
My prayers to his family, friends and agency. Take a look at his page on the ODMP

While you are there search out the folks on that page from your area.
Police officers are not paid for what they do, they are paid for what they are prepared to do.

Sorry to hear about it, nice looking family.
We have a non-profit organization in our state to help injured officers and their families. The Thin Blue Line of Michigan. The founder is a fallen officer's widow. They take donations and do charity events such as runs, cycle tours, golf outings, etc., to provide financial and some legal assistance to the familys. Not all dept's have the ability to take care of their own, or chose not to. Maybe your local areas have something you can look into? Not trying to be preachy, just offering an idea to those who like to get involved or show appreciation.

Thanks guys we do and the department Widman is from is small only about 300 sworn officers. The county department I work for has a lot more guys and we have what we call the blue line fund. Lot of familys to take care of theo, we have lost so many in the past year, including Widman we have lost 4 the three other where from my department. All had kids and it is tuff on every one, two of the officers worked in the corrections side of the house with me before going on the road, one even worked for me a little while before going on the road. I just kinda needed to vent. You now how it is.

Lost another good guy. Best wishes to Family and Friends.
My family and I will keep them in out thoughts and prayers. I have family in law enforcement and understand their service to the community. Its a shame that community and family lost such a great man.
I want to thank the guys who responed and gave words of encourgment, it has been very good to hear and the community has really stepped up, Officers from my county department and the two city departments in are area all combined to stand out in front of our local Wal-Mart's and collect for the family. I don't know how much was collected but I did hear one gentleman walked up said thank you and droped a 50 right in the bucket and left with out even going in the store. The people in down town have set up a memorial for Officer Widman. It's just nice to see sometimes that the community cares.. and they aren't after your scalp. Wed will be the tuffest it the day of the funeral. So thank you guys it's been nice to hear the words of encourgment.
