Jon Link of J.L. Machining dies in accident

Apparently Jon Link of JL Machining was killed on Sunday the 8th in some sort of accident. Please keep his family in your prayers. He was a great guy and really did his part to further the diesel performance industry. Lots of his injectors running around out there. Cheers Jon! RIP our good friend.......

Terrible news Dan. His work was in all corners of the industry. I wish his family and friends all the best in this difficult time.

btw, how are you doing Dan?

Jon was a great guy, he was always willing to help in any way he could. You could tell he really enjoyed what he did. He made some of the best injectors money could buy. He will be missed by many.

I am not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I wanted everyone to be aware. I went to Jon Link's funeral and it was good to see how many people were touched by Jon's life - over 1400 people showed up. They say the AVERAGE is 125 - it was the biggest the funeral director had ever seen - that gives some indication of what a great guy he was. While I am here I want to add that Brady and Jeralyn (sp?) of Industrial Injection, and Clint at ATS dropped everything and flew out for the service. JP from JP Diesel, Danny Marshall, Dusty and Marianne Hawk from HTS and others all shut their shops down and drove up from as far away as Tennessee to honor Jon and personally convey their sorrow to Jon's family. Definitely a stand up group of people I would be proud to do business with. That kind of devotion to a friend and collegue says a lot.

A big thanks to everyone who came and to everyone who wrote. His wife and family were and are helped in knowing how many peoples' life he positively affected and improved by his being here. Jon's parents are seeking any stories anyone has about Jon and the time they shared with him for a book they want to put together. Their email is jlink333@verizon.net. Their address is 3455 Squires Rd, Conklin, MI 49303 if you would rather use snail mail. Please take the time to write something down if you have a fond memory or two.

If for any reason you need to contact JL Machining for anything, - ANY BUSINESS INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN OR TYPED for obvious reasons - that way we can be sure it is right and minimize misunderstandings. Hard copy can be sent to the business address (same as where you sent the parts), faxed to the business fax at 231-853-8106, or emailed to jlink333@verizon.net.

ALSO - due to the nature of how Jon ran his business, there will be A LOT of guys out there who are NOT on the internet all the time, so if you could print this out and pass it out at local pulls and/or just pass the word that would be awesome. In particular I have no idea how to reach the tractor and semi guys, so I need your help with that. I do not know if anyone will be answering Jon's phone right away - which I know is how he did 100% of his business, so just keep that in mind when letting people know about everything.

Lastly, this is not some giant corporation with a customer service department and a bank of phones - and no 2-3 people could handle the volume of phone calls that Jon did by himself. This is just family and friends working for FREE to get you your stuff back, so please don't call up and be insistent that you are owed this, that, or the other, or that you "need something ASAP" - just for the one or two out there who were thinking about doing that. I know it is obvious, but just please be courteous as we have all lost a friend (at least) here.

Just to head off a few questions: A friend of Jon's who worked with him part time for years (who is familiar with diesel injectors and many of the customers) will be helping, as well as a family friend who was Jon's apprentice before Jon opened the injector shop and does EDM work at a general machine shop nearby (not injectors). The same person who always did the accounting for the business will be doing the invoicing and can be reached via the above email address. As to where that leaves things I don't know, but we all agree that Jon would want to do right by you, his customers, and we will do our best to accomodate you.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and assistance in getting this handled.
