JCB Equipment

Anyone here have any knowledge or experience with JCB machines?

I just bought a 210SL TLB and was wondering if there's anything inherently 'wrong' with these machines I should know about.

Thanks!

I don’t know anything about the newer machines, but the older ones were good as a boat anchor (caution you need a big boat) or were very good at blocking traffic.

Truthfully they where the biggest piece of junk that I have ever operated, no power and very heavy to trailer. JCB =Junky Communist Backhoe

Sorry to be so blunt, but it has been over 10 years and I still have a bad taste in my mouth,

I used to run a '97 (new at the time) 217S at work, when I was going to college. It had 4 wheel steering, extend-a-hoe and a 4 in 1 bucket. The only "problem" it had, was the computer that controls the 4-wheel steering would sometimes get confused if you switched settings (and skipping past a setting in between) too fast. Always had to switch to one setting at a time, wait for the dash light to change, then go for the next one.

Personally, after running that one, if I needed to buy a hoe, I wouldn't bother looking at any other brand. I was impressed with it that much. The last time I asked, since being gone, they have over 2-3000hrs on it.

I ran a 210S for a few days some years ago, I actually liked it, the 4 wheel steering was great, almost as good as skid steer. The only thing I thought was "Wrong" with it were the vertical stabilizers in the back, they were prone to getting hung up on things and didn't provide that much extra stability, though the machine was pretty stable to begin with. I wouldn't have a problem buying a JCB (if I had enough $$$ that is...)
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! Those were exactly the kind of answers I was looking for... HONEST ones!

I might not be thrilled with the prospect that the machine I just bought could turn out to be a boat anchor, but at least I know it's a possibility. The 'heads-up' about the 4 wheel steering may come in handy too. Lastly, knowing it's an inherantly stabile machine to begin with helps a lot too.

Thanks again!

Like I said, all of the JCB equipment that I have ran was back in the 80s so take it for what its worth.
Good luck
