I went On the Ladder of The RV....

And because of age/my fat rear/or providence, an anchor that held the ladder, pulled out of the body. There are two pop rivets on either side of an oval metal piece about two feet from the top of the roof. One on each side of the ladder. Now,am I to assumethat the rivets went into the skin or did they go into something more substantial?Do I want to use pop rivets again, maby a size larger or some thing like Thread-Serts?I have no idea what there is for a backing?.yet.Did I say that there is no access through the inside?

I dunno how to fix it, but I'll put my money on the second option above as to the cause! I don't think a small city in the State of Rhode Island had anything to do with it.

Use a stud finder and see if there is anything in there. The walls are typically 1.125 to 1.375 thick. So keep that in mind for what you decide to do.

If there are cabinets on the inside wall where the mount is then I would use long 1/4" machine screws and thru bolt it. You can also use a toggle bolt but you will have to look for ones that are designed for shallow wall or hollow door applications.

Sorry but I started laughing as soon as I read the title of your thread.

Been there and done that but it was on one I was hauling.

You could also cut a piece of alum plate to span between frame spars and spread the load. A tubing cutter will adjust the ladder if needed. Seal the plate down with some dicor.

You could just lean an extension ladder against it.

Pop rivets thru aluminum!? They are good for keeping the access tabs on beer cans but not for keeping you on your RV!

Maybe run some bolts and washers through the wall entirely.
