04, Not sure how that would work. I don't think LCDs are fond of heat. Get when of those mounts where you can put it in the upper corner, and have it opposite the kitchen? Just an idea.

Here is what we have in our house...

Living room- 50" Plasma HDTV (best picture in my opinion)

Bedroom- 47" LCD Flat Panel HDTV (also a very good picture)

Game room- 55" Sony WEGA LCD Projection HDTV

lounge- 22" Samsung LCD HDTV

If you have never had HDTV then once you get it you will never go back. My only advice is to buy the TV that will fit your room. It doesn't have to be the largest.... it just the "right" size.

Britt

You guys with your "compensatory" TVs are killing me!

My *big* TV is a 21" Panasonic that I paid $199 for 8 years ago. I splurged and got front panel input jacks AND a remote control

The bedroom tv is the 17" one that my wife had in college. It's probably 15 yrs old.

Honestly, I think it's sort of wasteful to upgrade to HDTV yet. First, the Plasma, DLP, and LCD technology is not "mature" yet, imo. There's still a lot of progress to be made, and in 2-3 years when OLED displays are commonplace, everyone will be kicking themselves for wasting money on far-inferior sets that have poorer image quality and higher energy consumption.

The irony is that I watch more TV than a lot of the fellas here with the monster TVs/Energized walls.

It's just priorities, I guess. I'm willing to bet a lot of the guys who have the nice TVs don't have two custom guitars and a handmade vacuum tube guitar amp designed for Brad Paisley. I'm far from a tightwad, I just spend it on other things

The tv we watch the most is a 27" Panasonic tube type that I bought 9 years ago. I do have a 36" Panasonic flat screen downstairs that we never seem to watch. We walked through Sam's Club the other day and they had a Sony LCD running a Blu-ray DVD and I was in awe. I might have to bite the bullet and get the good stuff.

26" sharp for now...Only got Sat. last year, first tv in 10 years...Makes winters a little nicer. I think I will wait for the prices to drop a bit. What kind of maintaince are required now days? Don't the plasmas have to be "flushed" for lack of correct term.

Just a tired, 12 year old 26 inch. Just soldered the remote back together again, but it keeps on working. If I want to stare mindlessly at something, it's usually at this website and not the TV, so I'll just keep the old one. Also, I'm pretty worried about the reliability of these new big fancy TVs. Many I know seem to need to have the guy in to fix it quite often.

britt, delete that double post, are you just trying to rub it in??

i do spend more time on DTR/net than i do on TV.

TV has no impact what so ever on my life, at least i can interact with folks on DTR, and sell stuff on fleabay.

wifey is more worried about buying presents for other folks now, but after christmas, when presents are over, and it is just her curled up on couch, trying to stay warm, she will start talking about it again.
