Hot-Wire Cutter

Ya know, the thing ya use to cut foam, rubber etc....The wire gets hot and you slice right thru stuff...

Anybody know how to make one??? I could use one, but I'd probably electrocute myself trying to make it....Anybody know how to do it?

Do a Google search under "making a hot wire cutter" or "building a hot wire cutter" and you will have all the necessary info, including dimensions, parts needed etc.
Let us know how the finished product is working and how hard/easy it was to build and calibrate.

Also look at some of the Remote control glider sites.. they use them to cut foam wing cores...

if you type that exact phrase in ebay you will find at least 9 items......... how big a cutter ya lookin for? what ya trying to cut?

You can use a length of Nichrome wire supported between a frame then connect it to a 12 VAC transformer of about 10 amps.
I used to work at a company that made styrofoam.
