I usually lose 50 pounds an inherit $500,000 every time I look at our email.

we have a publicly displayed email link, and with the advent of Blackberries, SPAM has reached a new level of pain.

my wife has one, and she sets & deletes junk all day.

i sent in two requests to have the email shifted from a hot link, (where automated machines can harvest them)

to a picture (build the page in HTML, do a screen shot, and put the image up) where the user has to read the image, and type in the text into their email.

 

Most of my messages are from my email account, which is why I got the BB. I run a mail rule that silently deletes junk mail so it never gets pushed to my BB. You'll have to receive at least one to get the originating address, but after that, I don't get them. It's an ongoing thing though. Sender address regularly change because the senders know this is a possibility and the spam servers get taken down or blacklisted regularly.

You can setup generic rules that will delete anything with viagra, etc in the subject line that will catch a lot of them.

This is all within the mail system we use at our work. I don't use outlook or any other mail stuff. I'd bet you can do it with outlook though.

 

ah, hers pull direct from the server, so there is no outlook to filter.

the trash we get is new & different everyday.

I have set up a bunch of filters, but you can't catch them all.

 

I know this is old but i might have a solution why could yo unot set up a gmail account and use a pop server to run her email though to filter out the crap? then yo ucould push the emails from the gmail acount to the phone.

sign up with that service. they do a good job of filtering if you/your company doesn't want to set up a web appliance to filter. Im not sure the cost, as I have access to that service thru my ASME membership.

we cranked up the spam service on her Server, and it started catching a LOT more.

and we stopped selling so much stuff on Criagslist.
most of the responses stuff you list on CL is just to harvest your email address.

That's why I have a separate hotmail account just for CL. Too much spam - dump that account and create a different one.
