Shovelhead, I have no complaints about the normally aspirated 2.2L inline 4, it was fine for its time but the turbocharged version of that engine is another story all together. For some reason my father bought 3 different cars with the 2.2L turbocharged engine. Every single one of them ate head gaskets every 100,000km. Replacing that darn head gasket was a total pain but we did so many of them we actually got really good at it. Not that I was happy about being good at it. I busted more knuckles getting the turbocharger off the back of that darn engine. Another design flaw was the water pump. The passenger side engine mount went right through the middle of the pump. It turned what should have been an easy job into a miserable waste of a day. I changed a failed water pump on my slant 6 on the side of the road in less than half an hour. The 2.2L turbo was almost an entire day of misery.

I often say that the engineers who design our vehicles should have to do their own maintenance for a few years before a car can be released to the public. My old 87 Chevy pickup with a 305 V8, I sit on the fender with my feet inside the engine compartment resting on the frame rail and away I go. Unfortunately if I designed an engine compartment the vehicle would probably end up 2 feet wider and longer in each direction. I seem to remember reading somewhere that either the newer Ford or Chevy diesels, you need to remove the cab to replace the injectors, I could be wrong on that so don't quote me, but I am fairly certain I am not imagining that.

Have a good Wednesday all y'all.

Boy, looks like everyone was "remembering the good ole days" with their cars. So, ya got my mind running - - like the Chrysler Cordoba I bought for my daughter. She never did like it - - she wanted my Porsche. Sure dear, every 16yo girl should have a Porsche. The funny thing is, she has that Porsche now. My oldest son wanted it when I was ready to sell it. I had bought it new, kept it about 8 years. Had a newer one also and the wife was wondering why her car had to sit out while my two cars were in the garage. Yes dear - - - Ok son, it is yours. Well, here it is years later and he just gave it to my daughter. I had taught her how to drive in that car and she always loved it. Her Cordoba was a good car. I also still have my '66 Bird - - has about 80,000 on it. Sure wish I still had my Studebaker Hawk. Talk about no room in the engine compartment - - horrible to work on but sure fun to drive. The one that kept coming back to me was a Dodge Omni of all things. Stole it from older couple that was scared of it. Bought it for my youngest son - - 4 dr, 2.2 4 cyl with turbo. Thought that would be a good one for him to start with. DUH. That thing was dangerous. Hit the floor in a speed shift to 2nd and you better be hanging onto the wheel or the torque would put you in the ditch. Amazing for such a small engine.

OK, enough of that - - quit talking about those old cars or I start crying I didn't keep more of them. Grab a nitey nite ph00 and turn this thing off for the night. Be good and have a good sleep.

Bob

Yeh, Shorts - - didn't tell you good morning because the time of your post made me know you went to bed late and would sleep in today. Didn't want to wake you up.

Stan - - later - - in a year come September - - I sure hope and pray. We need to move a bunch of them out and replace with good ones, especially Hussein -- - and Clinton might be worse, just different purposed, but still for the worse. Those two feel they are above the law and so far, have been.

had a 68 Camaro ragtop SS that got towed, boyfriend left it. paid the fine, tow but dad wouldn't let me store it at home (city, no space) sold it to AAAAAAA towing for the bill (200 bucks) I think they were there as I hung up the phone. big car regret. started with a ford falcon; loved a 1981 buick regal. beat up a mustang II, then I found chevy pick ups!!!

rainy day, project washout, so chipping away at odd stuff needing finishing.

Hey Shorts! "...velvet voice of the night...." lol, hope it is voice of the happy girl.

voice of fiver is".....time to get cleaning, fixing, organizing..."

Hey peoples, yeah I run around at all hours...is it morning? Is it night time? Both? Neither??

Went bowling with a friend the other night. She's a big bowler, in tourneys and such. She took it easy on me while giving me pro tips to which I almost broke 100 lol I'm such a bad bowler! Afterwards a few of us went out to this dive bar to partake in their Jack Honey special...mmmmm. Going out here with friends/coworkers is part of my effort to be single me in a new place...aka whole new life. Gonna take a while, but thank God for good people.

Been working my tail off on a new workout. Feels good, but... As I type this I sit here with an icepack on my knee. Its stiff, maybe a little overworked. But no rest for the weary, legs and abs up again. Fun part is I'm not leaning up my food. Mmmnomnomnomnom, "for muscl gain" I say.

Did I tell yall I saw Mexican Elvis at the Mercato? Met up with my Cousin and family as they were coming through. We were watching a band perform at the food court and there goes Mexican Elvis gliding through the crowd. He was like 5'4".

Ok, I'm off to check the mail. Have a good evening.

Gee - - here we go again - - nothin' done around here. Ph00 and coffee are on but I ain't cleaning up - - NOPE. ................................did it yesterday. Hey, it's 10am, no one out of bed yet?

Hit the doc yesterday - - - chest situation is regressing - - says it sounds clear but not clear in throat. New pills - - - new syrup - - then he tells me go take hot showers with lots of steam. I asked him how about spending some time in the lanai laying in the sun? He laughed and said a little of that could help, but need steam. HMMM. So, trying that now. Tired of this stuff. Got things to do.

OK, gone a runnin. Party tonight.
