To get back on topic a little, the numbers speak for themselves. (stats that is)

Way more defenseless homeowners have been shot, stabbed, raped, robbed and or otherwise assulted than 7 year olds grazed by stray bullets. Not trying to be a cool guy here, I have a 10 year old and would just curl up and die if he was ever shot.
Thing is, we all need to be prepared. I have quite a few firearms myself, some outfitted with crosshair and dot style lazers, can I get to them in an emergency? Probably not. Would I shoot to kill or seriously injure if I felt that myself of my family was in danger, YES.
Last thing that guy was thinking of was hurting an innocent, unknowing neighbor. Does that make it all better, No. Would he have made a different decision if he thought he was putting a child in danger, I hope.

To heck with that fancy high dollar stuff. If they're wearing body armor and they're coming after you, SHOOT FOR THE HEAD!!!!!!!! If you're unable to do that, take their legs away then.

I'll take my chances of "Getting in trouble". If I think that I'm threatened in such a way that there is no chance of getting away without a conflict, I'm going all the way!!! Take the "person/persons from unmarried parents" out!!! Especially if you're on you're own property!!!!

i don't but the socom 16 is on the list of guns to buy after the holidays, along with a couple others, namely a 1911 military spec for target shooting and a little XD .40cal for the woman.

Hovisimo what kind of grips and tactical light do you have attached to your 870? I've been looking but have yet to find the right combination?

I don't own anything so valuable that a crook with body armor would be remotely interested in.

The original reason this thread was started was to let folks know that bullets WILL go through interior walls, and to be triple sure of your target and what might lie beyond before dropping the hammer.
We've all drifted a little off topic. myself included
Hey Shovelhead, the title of this thread is "Handguns for home defense".

I don't see where this thread has gone off-topic.

DT.

tacstar accessories

i can't seem to find the clamp but it clamps to the barrel or magazine tube and holds a small flashlight about an inch in diameter. i use a surefire combat light, but you can get a dorcy 3AA LED light at walmart that would work well. just can't see paying into the hundreds of dollars for a light, as you can see in the original pic my light does the job. a side note on the grips, you might want to get a rear grip with a folding stock because it will punish your right hand if you're practicing with it.
