I agree with most, I don't have a pair (on my truck) and think they are tacky. But to each his own. And for the government to try to regulate it is ridiculous and a waste of taxpayers money.

I hate to admit this but, the politician in question, (Leroy Myers) is from my district here in the good ol' communist state of Maryland. You can't even breath in this state without the state Gov't telling you when, where and how much you can have. This just kills me. He has ZERO concern about all the abandoned coal mines in Western Md.( his district by the way) That are just spewing acid runoff so bad all the fish are dead and the creeks look like orange Kool-Aid !! Let's just worry about something as trivial as these doo dads hanging from truck bumper, Give me a break, AND give me my tax money back that you are using to do stuff like this so I can put it somewhere useful ( like my CTD ) !!!!!

Wheww !!! I fell better now...

Yeah, let's not bother with anything like health care, jobs, or miscellaneous garbage like that. We will take care of the important stuff!

There is a limit where things become obscene.

Would some of you guys mind if I replace my Ram's head hood ornament with a prosthetic phallus? Or if I had sexually explicit stickers all over my back window? Or if my buddies were watching pornography in the back seat of my minivan?

I don't personally think that the bull ********* are quite obscene, but I can easily understand where the congressman is coming from.

To each is own.Like it has been said.I think the Congress men and women should think about getting the Murderers and Druggies off the street before something as little as this.I can also understand where people don't want to look at it.I personally don't like them, but that's just me.

Another case of "What were they thinking, or Why not use their time for more pressing matters" for sure. I'd sure like to see my tax dollars used more wisely.
The publicity for this ridiculous product is more than the mfg could hope for.
That said- I wish someone would do something about the "Smilin Bob" commercials on daytime TV. Bigtime Tacky.
Try explaining that to a 6 year old.

I agree with you there. The worst part around my house is my 4 year old daughter watching the commercial and then standing there looking at me with that dumb Bob smile waving at me. Actually she is funny doing it, but where it came from. Sure change the channel, then he pops up on the other station your watching.....yikes.

As far as ****, human body parts I guess that's a bit closer to home. Some reason Calvin flying the bird seems more extreme than a pair of brass bull things.

Well I don't want a set of round deals dangling from my hitch! I like to call them that now since I heard a coworker use that phrase, him and his wife don't like to say the "B" word. I kid him about it all the time now.

As referring to window stickers I don't care for the flip-off-bird "Calvin" and here just recently noticed someone in the classifieds selling a "EAT SOOT" sticker, that one we sure don't need, we have enough problems with the EPA as it is.

Waste of time and taxpayer money, as well as unconstitutional regulating.

Of course, I also think the accessory in question is a waste of time and consumer money, as well as tacky and unnecessary. I laughed the first time I saw them, but also figured something negative was on its way. Looks like I was right.

I see many more offensive things when driving though -- some are even explicit solicitations toward women, written on the trailers of semi's. My family was traveling on I-80 in my wife's minivan, and she was shown the center digit by a trucker that had a "solicitation" on his truck, apparently because he didn't get a free show. Just a random goofball, not a need for huge legislative packages.

I don't subscribe to the whole smoke scene, either. To each their own, and offroad fun is one thing. Blacking out an intersection is dangerous and juvenile. Getting back at someone for cutting you off or just cause they have windows down is lame, too. I have had much more fun killing them with kindness and not rising to the bait. I also have a stout hitch for the tailgaters, if they want to get too close. Will it dent my truck? Maybe. Will it cost me some time? Probably. Will it be their fault? Absolutely!! If they have an accident because I smoked out the lane/highway, then I am the one hunted. If that little Civic wants to try biting my rear bumper, then let it findout how tough a Class IV hitch is to chew. And, maybe their insurance will help me towards that new Ranch Hand I want!! If I could get one of them to sideswipe my pass. side, then I could get my bed repaired. Not Insurance fraud, mind you, but it would need to be painted anyway...

The negative image we have gotten, as evidenced by some members here getting targetted for vandalism specifically for driving a diesel truck is proof that others with misguided moral beliefs and convictions are responding in strong, negative ways to false pereceptions created by misguided truck owners. Look at new idling legislation. Look at increased inspections. Look at DNR/DEQ tattle-tale lines against smoking vehicles. If we don't raise our own bar (if it isn't too late!) and work to change perceptions, then legislation will raise it for us, at a gauranteed level or direction unfavorable to us.

I am finished preaching now. I do not intend to flame anyone, just want to raise some consciousness of members who like to get squirrelly or even on the roadways.

I agree with zulusafari...I laughed the first time I saw them, but as with most things I laugh at on the roads these days, I wouldn't really want a set.

However, after seeing this moron from my state wasting his time on this, I've seriously considered getting a set, just on principle. Once they pass this, I figure it's not long until the "Dial 1-800 Eat-....", etc. bumper stickers are gone, you can only run your "loud" diesels between 8am and 10pm, etc.

I've lived the the People's Republic of Maryland for a little over 11 years now, and never heard of this guy. (For all I know, though, he might be a first-termer.) Might just be a matter of trying to get his 15 minutes.

Normally I'd just blow it off, but knowing the current climate here in MD, I'd have to say that he might actually get a chance to pass it.

Almost getting bad enough to round up the family and move back to PA. At least up there, the elected officials knew how to waste my tax money the RIGHT way.

Every time I see a set hanging on a truck I just want to run up and kick them real hard. I think it would be funny to see a big ole' tough truck rolling around on the ground crying like a baby.
