I liked Garth up through the "Ropin' the Wind" album. After that he went downhill in a hurry.

Now...George Strait is undoubtedly the king of country music...and Alan Jackson ain't too shabby either.

I never said George wasn't a good singer. I just don't care much for his new stuff. I guess you can say that about a lot of the old one's lately. George has definately left his honky tonk roots. Alan's still coming out with some good music. George just hasn't impressed me lately. I think the last album of his I liked was either Pure Country (great honky tonk/bar music) or his 40 greatest hits or whatever it was.

I gotta agree, George is about the only Nashville guy I listen to anymore. But he aint what he used to be...

Most of the record companies are owned by people from New York City. Even the cmas were moved to NYC. That's why a lot of the performers like Ricky Skaggs and others formed their own recording studios so they could record what they wanted to do instead of what some city dude wants.

Yup that was a good one, i will admit tho, his new CD, is NOT typical George..... But his old music cannot be beat, u wanna spend a good 50 bucks on strait music?

Greatest hits 1 and II
Ten Strait Hits

that is all the George that you need if you are on budget

I've never heard a George Strait song I didn't like...and I own every album he has ever released (except the very latest one which I haven't bought yet).

Does that tell you who my favorite is?? "50 Number 1's" is a good collection as is "Strait Out Of The Box". I like 'em all though.

Personally I find all the new stuff just out right sucks. And this Ledoux tribute isnt all that great, but I've never liked anything recent from Garth Brooks.

CCR, Pat Green, etc have their moments, but...

I think George is the king. All his stuff is good.
You can't say that Garth is a sellout because he left his wife. Sometimes you just fall out of love. How do you know it wasn't her decision?
I regret not seeing Chris in concert again. RIP, Chris.
