GM driving lights.... am i seeing things? or is it just me
I've got an '02 Silverado Z71, just hit 100,000 miles and still have the originals! I do turn them off half the time though. Most people aren't aware you can do that. I've seen a butt load of the onesies, I just figured I was lucky.

My parents Silverado is an 01 with about 65k has both burning. Whenever I drive it I usually turn them off. I have noticed that they do burn out frequently and have often wondered why my parents truck hasn't burned one out yet.

After I bought my Z71 in 97, the daytime driving lights went out. I was told not to waste monely on replaceing the expensive part, unless I like throwing money away every 6 months or so.
I bought my '03 Z71 (now it's the wife's daily driver) with about 50k miles on it a little over 2 years ago. Right after I bought it, I replaced the DRL bulbs with Silverstar amber models. The truck has a little over 100k on it and I've only replaced one bulb once. And I usually just let the ensor decide headlights or DRLs.
They are Daytime running lights. My 02 GMC burned one out every 5-6 months. The base of the lamp would be a dark brown burned color and the residue would fog the inside of the lens. It always looked like junk and I finally just took them both out. My Dad's Denali of the same year still toasts one or the other just as often. The local dealership told me this is 'normal'. What a bunch of idiots. Its part of the reason I drive a Dodge now and couldn't be happier.
