Game Warden Powers and/or Limitations.
Yeah, sometimes being up front with Gov. just doesn't pay. I was working in the Big Bend Park area of Texas. An old lady on her way out of the park stopped to show the ranger what a nice barrel cactus she had found. They fined her $5,000.00 and made her replant it. The game wardens here can confiscate your vehicle and belonging for hunting without a permit.
In most States the Game warden has the same jurisdiction as a State Policeman except they do not do traffic stops, although technically they can. They pretty much have the lay of the land so to speak and usually once they check everyone out on an area they will move on.
As long as everybody is legal I would just ignore them, they will move to the places they are needed simply because no laws are being violated on your place

Well, Therein lays the problem..
A few years back I shot and killed a blackbear that was continually chasing my horse. I called them repeatedly to come get this bear and they just blew me off. Well, I finally sat the 30.06 by the door and sure enough the bears chased my horse a few days later. I shot it and killed it. Boy where they P.O.'d !
They questioned me four times and my wife two times ( while I was at work) they then went to where I work and asked a few questions about my firearms training. I finally had to give them my attorneys card and told them to talk to him when they attempted to question my a fifth time... Since then they have watched me like hawk, but not to this level.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but I would'nt rule it out..

Most states I have lived in the game Warden may go wherever he likes.
I generally try and be polite and factual, seems to work for me.
As Top says, they are just trying to do a dangerous job.........So if they are a bit standoffish in a potentiaally tense situation, understand their plight.

Shooting one of Maryland precious bears is a HUGE No No !!! The bears are only up here in the western mountains, not in Annapolis or Baltimore. Therefore the lawmakers think they are just cute a furry ! WRONG !! We finally complained loud enough to get a bear season but it is a pretty big joke on how it is ran, and in the end not many bears ar ever actually killed during the hunt...

Game wardens in my state are actually called Environmental Police, they are a division of the Massachusetts State Police. There are several of them stationed in my county, one lives right down the road from me. He approached me several years ago and "asked" if he could park his truck and trailer with his quad on it in my lot next to my house. This other lot has a right of way to appx 100 acres of land that is hunted. He stated he had to have my permission to enter my property. I know things vary from state to state, however, I find it hard to believe that they can enter onto private property without probable cause.
I agree with others and would extend whatever courtesy they may need to accomodate their tasks as long as they are respectful to your concerns. If it were to become problematic I would have no problem following the coarse of action you have taken, or going even further if necessary.

I've been to plenty of parties where though the gate was locked, the Game Warden could come in even without probable cause and sneek up to the party, that's how the county does it around here, but we are also one of the top counties for alcohol consumption. You just have to see that they are doing their job and making sure there aren't any lawbreaking incidents. Half the time they're just bored and hoping for some action.

Yeah its not uncommon for a Game Warden to bust out the chain loppers either around here. I've even seen some take the gate off the hinges, they must've really wanted to get in to go through all that. I've seen some do traffic stops, but normally they will only do that if the driver is being erratic. There are plenty of them around here.
First of all, yes. roadside/field whatever- is not th eplace to argue. just note the date, time , car number etc...
second. no authority is omnipotent. there has to be a complaint; hazard to health or arson in progress, along those lines. i am in new york, even border patrol has limitations.
verbal answers are just that, unproven and deniable.
I have 95 acres and enough history with bad hunters, excellent hunters and bad EnCon police (environmental conservation)
easiest thing to do:
document the date, time, name of officer, situation (no univited people hunting, whatever) and write a letter (two copies and one to your lawyer, one to the local district attorney's office) that at said time and date, officer entered your secured premises but took no action (or whatever) thus creating a disruption to your hunt. A second appearance where you spoke to said officer and asked him to cease and desist above conduct went ignored when he appeared a third time on (date and time). I (my family) has the Right to quietly enjoy said premises without undue interference, and to date we are concerned about further intrusions upon our private residence.
then ask what you'd like: stay on public thoroughfares, refrain from harassment (serves to annoy), conduct business equally and impartially
whatever within reason. they do not have to tell you prior for any observation from a public road, but they cannot access your property a second time without cause.
just open up the examination to the boss and the ones who would have to back up the boss from a different agency. no one likes to back up that conduct on anything verbal.
to protect yourself at this point- file a FOIA with your name (any files that hav eyour name) from the state game warden/department. it may cost about 60 bucks but you can then see if someone else has been telling tales on you.
that is all the officer has to say, I have a confidential informant that has this guy charging people to hunt; drinking while hunting some form of activity WHILE hunting.
hope that helps you out. best way is what Top said. hi i am S and I need some help understanding the youth law for a friend's kid to hunt with us, can you help me out? is this a good time?
kill em with kindness zzzzzzz

This approach has worked very well for most of us (not all). I have had no problems with Fish and Game (as they are known here) since I made "friends" with them. My property is joined by a reserve. I made a point of telling F&G to park their vehicles on our road if they wanted to. As has been said, they are just doing their job. However, another guy that I worked with attempted to make "friends" with an officer. Turns out he was a jerk but getting to know him allowed by friend to figure out what the guy was up to.
