Ford sales way down...

Interesting article on vehicle sales. Ford is not doing too well right now and it looks like the new Toyota is hurting sales of the F-150.

Much as I hate to say it, buddy just bought a 08 F150 with the 5.4 gasser. Less than 2,000 miles on it he just got almost 18.5 MPG coming back from Oklahoma at 80 MPH...... The stupid thing is nice enough it almost takes away the bad taste in my mouth from my previous Fords.....

We decided to keep our popup camper for a couple more years or I would have bought an '07 F-150 Lariat 4wd,supercab,loaded to the max. I know the manager of the dealership. $10,000 off msrp. Beautiful, roomy truck with excellent fit and finish and Ford is dealing! Two things I didn't like was the auto(mushy after DTT in my '99)and the truck was too darn quiet. Ford's got the nicest half-ton on the market. I would think they could sell all they could produce.

Wow, it must have been downhill with a 50mph tailwind. We've got two guys at work with new QCSB 4x4 5.4L Fords and they both get terrible mileage. The one with a Superchips and exhaust on 22" wheels gets 12mpg, the other is stock and gets 14mpg.

I think Ford's sales problems has to do with their powertrains, the trucks themselves are fairly nice IMO. You couldn't pay me to drive something with a Powerstroke or modular V8 in it.

I traded in a 2006 F150 CC 4x4 5.4 for my Dodge.

I liked the truck but it was lacking in the power dept. pretty bad. My wifes V6 F150 wasn't much slower. I needed something with a little more stability and power.

I loved the inter. though. Great truck otherwise.

They make programmers that really wake those 5.4's up.

Personally I think Ford overmarkets their products. Ford's brand loyalty is being lost due to vehicle issues they have had in the past years....quality problems with the Escort and Taurus, tire issues on the Exploder, and recently with the 6.0 diesel.

Now Toyota is really marketing their stuff but they typically stand behind their product. I liked my Toyota Tacoma that I had before this truck but it wouldn't tow anything. My wife has a Toyota Sienna and it's pretty nice for a minivan.
