FORD ESCAPE Hybrid

Hey all,

Anyone have one? How do you like it, how does it handle and how about the MPG's? Any suggestions on options to get/not get?

Thanks in advance!

We looked at escapes (non hybrid) before getting the RAV4 and I honestly think that the quality is pretty poor. We looked at an XLS and I know that is a basic model, but the interior and fit and finish seemed cheap, plus I feel the Escape rolls alot of the freeway when changing lanes.
Just my opinion, but I would look elsewhere for a small SUV, such as RAV4 or CRV, maybe CRD Jeep Liberty?

I had always thought that the crv's and the Rav4's were cheaper...Don't get me wrong, I come from a long line of Toys. Dad has an fj40, I had an fj80 and now dad also has a 2005 4runner. Wife has a 2002 4cyl. camry. Great car, but need a 4x4.
The escape would be for the wife, to replace the camry. A friend has an escape, XLT v6 and it is actually a really nice ride, especially up the mtns.
I didn't notice the rolling on the freeway, but maybe I didn't TEST it correctly.

My ex wife worked for a Ford dealership and we got to drive a lot of the new cars just for the heck of it.......and the Escape was "OK" but I don't know if I'd spend that much money on one. The interior was ok....but I didn't have much fun driving it....reminded me of an Explorer. But I am pretty biased when it comes to FORD.....never been to impressed.

Have you looked at the 06/07 RAV4s or just the older ones? The 06 was a major redesign and you can get a 269hp v6 as an option or the 166hp 4cylinder we got. I think the escape is ok, but I am not sure if the hybrid is worth the premium in this case.

Good luck in your search,

Nick

When my daughter purchased her Ford Escape (non-Hybrid) last year, they were telling us about the cost of a front brake job, like $600 on a Hybrid. Check out the maintenance cost of normay things before getting one.
