Flashback to the 60s

Okay, here's a question for all y'all - The group known as Credence Clearwater REVIVAL is a revival of what former group?

sort of, they actually were a band called The Blue Velvets, and later changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival.

so it could go both ways, even though it is said as the band members "re commitment" to the band, it could also be said as a revival of The Blue Velvets under the name CCR.

Wiki says the were the Blue Velvets in the 50's but some of the members dispersed. then they were the Golliwogs or something like that for a while.

......He offered the band the chance to record a full album, but only if they changed the group's name. Never having particularly liked the Golliwogs, the foursome readily agreed, and Zaentz enthusiastically agreed to their suggestion: Creedence Clearwater Revival. The band took its name from Credence Nuball, a friend of Tom Fogerty; "clearwater", a reference to the band's concern for ecology (from a beer commercial of the day); and "revival", which spoke to the four members' re-commitment to their band.

Excellent trivia question though, I finally had to cheat and Wikipedia CCR for the answer...

I hope you aren't showing your age by remembering they were "The Blue Velvets" ( just Kidding )

Well, who knows? You and Wiki could be right as rain 'cause I'm basing my info on an old brain that's beginning to suffer from C.R.S. in a big way!
