First good pull with my Truck!

Yesterday helping on farm hooked two grain wagons behind truck in soft greasy field. weighed about 36k according to farmer. I wanted to see what my new truck could do ;D . Managed to almost kill it in 3rd low range on hill :'( , but when back in low 1 she started draggen 'em again. YES THE HO WILL BLOW SMOKE WHEN LOADED !!! He could'nt beleive I was able to pull the wagons out of the bottom, this is what he looked like .
One question for people who pull heavy loads, how do you keep the axles from wraping? I had to be careful on the road to not wrap the axles and get u-joint chatter > .

Needless to say, we were both impressed . Man I LOVE MY TRUCK.

Yep, that oughta make 'er grunt.

How fast were you pulling them??

That's impressive you got enough traction to pull them out of the field if it was very wet. Gravity boxes (I assume that's what they were?) won't put any weight on he truck to help you.

Re:First good pull with my Truck!

yep, gravity box's. field had about 1.5" rain begining of week and is clay. Dug probably 3 to 4 inch ruts, bad thing to do to a field i'll be running in in spring. Still wonder about the axle wrap though? I did not like the chatter from the u-joints. Anybody else have that problem or was I just way overloaded?

ps.. farmer just bought (spring) F250PSD and would not even hook up to 'em. He knew he could'nt pull 'em out. he was really supprised when I did. Actually, so was I.

edit... forgot about speed question.
speed, took me about 1/2 mile to get wagons to 20 on road because of spinning tires and axle wrap (2wd on asphault), dont think much over 12 in field low range, hit bottom of hill at approx 2100 rpm.

To keep from having problems when you pull heavy stuff just ease it along and dont get in a hurry. Nice to drive something that has a lot of pulling power ;D. You weren't really over loaded you were just giving it to much throttle for the situation I think
