She shouldn't be your sugar momma, if you work for AFD, you oughta be knocking back that much already right?? I thought Austin Fire got paid really well.

a friend of mine worked for austin/travis co. ems...after the boot camp she finally got on a medic unit and hated it! she said it wasnt worth the money and came back here...i think she was partly home sick, but they run them poor souls into the ground. a starting paramedic in montgomery co makes like 43k and starting in-charge is at 53k. i work for a dept that has collective barganing and it is very nice. get your union involved and get the pay up. i think our rookie basics make 38k, emt-i-40k and emt-p-42k. next year its going to be a nice raise too!

no i think we will stay a combination for a long time or untill we get a new chief that changes it. but its not to bad i was a volly for a very long time here that is why i am still here. hard to leave you roots. mother and step father got me into it when i was about 8 years old just turn 23 on friday so its been i little while. but that was the good old days when i could fire at the age of 12 drove my first brush truck when i was 13 and my first engine when i was 16. not the safest thing but i was the only one left to drive not a very good turn out back then usually about 5 people would show up. but times have change can't do that anymore with our NFPA putting their foot down. but works out for the best.

were one of 2 privately owned fd in texas right now and let me tell ya it is very nice too! i hope collective barganing works out for youll too...someone told me there is only like 7 depts that have it in our region.

i feel bad for firerescue124 about the selective hiring alot of places are gettin away with. according to the rumor mill houston when to 4 shifts years ago in order to promote minorities and women!! its amazing what things are being allowed to happen. whoever scores highest should get the job/promotion/raise...not based on gender or race!

im off my soap box now

If you're not already, join the TSAFF, they are a great resource, especially for small locals like yours.
