Firefighter coffee room, LEO, EMS welcome too!

hey all, aint had a FF coffee room in a while, so I thought I would start one.

Update, almost done with my 36 hour fire class. got the state test coming up this weekend 17th, and live burn on 18th.

found out just how much work being a Firefighter is. Tell you one thing, I sure wont miss doing "scrambles" (FF's from ohio will know what those are).

for those that dont know what scrambles (also known as quick dress) are, they are drills to see how fast a FF can get gear on and be on air. State of Ohio requires FF's to get dressed and on air in 90 sec to pass the class.

Good luck, we only time tested for dawning your scba and going on air, 45 seconds, that included your hood and helmet.

Good luck and welcome to the job,

Tim

We have two minutes to don full gear to breathin air in GA. We call em' bunker drills. During recruit school we could be sitting in class, or even outside, and at any second a bunker drill would be called. Those were fun but a pain in the but, always on edge. 13 weeks worth of it.

Feelin kinda worthless these days, I've been in the IT department for the past 3 months, and my first shift back on duty is August 1st. It really sucks to have a seizure in the station, cause I'm not physically hurt so I just sit here and surf the internet and feel useless. Oh well life will go on, just waitin for that date!!!!!!!!!

Also we had alot of ****kickers saturday night. We have 4 battalions, with a total of 27 stations, and at one point every battalion had a rip roaring fire goin on. Too bad I was asleep in my comfy bed, workin that 9-5 at HQ
