Eyeglasses - These things suck
On their use, I don't even use them when I don't see because I am scared what I might see. I guess, it works much better that way and if I make a mistake I rightfully claim I did not see it.
Jack you should try this technique, imagining is far better than actually seeing it.

It is an interesting thing how troopers in different parts of the country ask for documentation. Up here in the NE it is "license, registration and insurance please" I was stopped in North Dakota, in the middle of nowhere, a few years ago and the trooper asked me: "you have a license?" and no I was not under age looking, I haven't been that in a long time, and I did not drive erratically. Was 7mph over in a 75 zone. He was very amicable and all that, wrote it at 5 over for a $25 fine. It just struck me odd that he did not ask for the registration and insurance.
If you're tired of the fishbowl thing, opt for bifocals and make sure your A/R coating is Crizal. I use progressives daily, but switch to bifocals when reading as they enable my eyes to do the work instead of searching out the sweet spot with progressives. I had $3200 worth of Lasik five years ago,but regressed in six months back into specs. I had such a terrible time healing that I just wear glasses. I've been wearing them since I was four years old and I'm fifty-eight now.
I would agree with the above post about the progressive lenses. I can't wear them, you have no peripheral vision, and have to point your nose at what you want to see.
When I first went to bifocals, the line bothered me, but after a while I didn't notice it at all.
If you want to see out of the corner of your eye, without turning your head, you are better off with bifocals. You can have them set the line where ever you want.
In my line of work, I need peripheral vision, my safety depends on it. I would think a LEO would need peripheral vision as well.
Maybe even eyes in the back of his head!

Hey, if Giuliani can do so can Larry. I just hope he will not go for lipstick too...
He may end up looking like a bulldog or a hockey mom.

You can tell if its Lary by the LEGS.
Speaking from experience, glasses get hard to fit as you get older because your melon gets bigger too.
Just get some of those old fart sun glasses...those giant ones that go over top of your glasses...the ones that cover half your face. You can get red/yellow or green tint too. Jack, I think you would look very intimidating with a pair of those on.
Horn rimmed might be an option too.
Ok, I gotta go before I get banned again.

Glasses are something you have to get used to. Had them for 40 years. Changed to progressive lenses about 15 years ago. Lots of getting used to - but was told by the Optomatrist that there would be some things that were different. Like having to look at what I wanted to see.
RayBans make good frames. I had the 58mm ones for years. When I was wearing glasses, all the scratch resistant coating in the world could not keep the lenses from scratching.
Had LASIK in 2005. Took off my glasses when I went into lay down and have the surgery. Never needed them after. I do wear readers. Made the decision to have distant vision. No regrets at all about choosing the LASIK.
