Hoss, I must give you credit. Even though we don't believe in the same things, you don't sway from your beliefs one bit and I truly admire that.

I guess I don't really see how it's 'persecution' in the classical sense of the word. I don't see people dying in America because they're Christian, I don't see people in the street suffering because they're Christian, or not getting jobs, or a home, or being banned from communities, so on and so forth. I just, honestly, don't see any level of persecution and that's why i'm confused.

I would have to agree with Darren. I do see discrimination in the workforce in that some faith based groups will not hire you unless you are a Christian. These are also groups that recieve federal funds for their cause. A very fuzzy line is now separating Church and State.

When you Pledge to the flag it's like wedding vows. The flag is a symbol of your allegiance(or fidelity)like a wedding ring and you are saying you will be faithful to the U.S. like you are to your spouse. The Pledge also says that our nation is under(e.g. serves) God(marriage was also designed to serve God) so no I don't believe it's against the Ten Commandments. Not trying to start a huge fight or anything just expressing my views.

ok something to think about. all "christians" know the lords prayer. Hallowed be thy name, let your kingdom come, let your will take place on earth as it is in heaven. for starters is not a kingdom a form of government? i mean if your are swearing your allegiance to god and then pledging allegiance to a flag whats to decipher where your allegiance really goes? you do what you want to to im not in any position to judge you or anything. but common sense to me says it would be the same as pledging allegiance to this flag then turning around and pledging allegiance to another country. in gods eyes isnt that the same as treason? my .02

Thanks Britt. I appreciate that. I guess I just know what I believe and why. It's easy to stand firm on something when you have confidence in it.

The answer to that question would be "you are". YOU decide where your allegiance really lies...or really where your allegiance lies FIRST.

The commandment that you spoke of earlier is found in Exodus 20:3 and it says, "You shall have no other gods before Me."

To be commiting idolatry, in my opinion, you would have to be putting something else before God. God elaborates in verse 3 & 4 of that same chapter in saying, "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..."

A person can pledge their allegiance to anything. That could be a country, a spouse, their children, the company they work for...anything. At the point that they become more allegiant to that item than they are to God, it is at THAT point that they are committing idolatry.

Again, this is my opinion, but I do not think that pledging your allegiance to a flag or a country is idolatry UNLESS you place your allegiance to that flag or country ABOVE your allegiance to God.

Please pray that the Lord would put it on the Chinese government’s heart to release more of the thousands of Christians who are being imprisoned for their faith throughout this communist nation.
