Herb,
I would have to agree with you Clinton was and is arguably the greatest politition that we have yet seen. Unfortunatly it takes more than that to be a "Great" president. I also think that Kerry is WAY up there in the great politition field as well. The problem is that both of these men have the same problem, they are both VERY self serving and both VERY egotistical. Although these are excellent qualitys in the tooth and nail battle of politics, they don't work well when the job requires them to step beyond themselves and be stewards of our country.
I know that Bush is no angel but at least he works in OUR interest! This is evidenced by the fact that the White House, the Senate and the House as well as most Govenorships across the country have gone CONSERVATIVE! almost without exeption the people of this country have shown at the ballot box that they are not interested in the Liberalization of our laws, morals or our monitary focus. He has unified the country, YES UNIFIED us behind his UNIFIED administration and its vision. I now feel for the first time in a long time that our country has STRENGTH, FOCUS, PRIDE and RESOLVE. Much to the dismay of the political rivals our economy is taking off, jobs ARE comming back, our missons in Afganistan and Iraq were and are a success.
As I listen to Kerry speak I have to ask this to anyone who supports him: "Do you belive as he does?". The Democratic party is in the unenviable position of only looking good if everything we currently do fails. If the economy drops they cheer, if a bunch of our guys die overseas it is a boon to there position, if we falter in any way as a nation it is seen as an oportunity to display our collective failure and they must parade it! As if they truly belive that they themselves can fix anything, this kind of arrogance is only found in places where the people are not in charge.

Thats why i did 6 years in nam so everyone could speak freely even if i don't agree with them.
In my opinion, the most important function our goverment has is protecting our country and caring for the needy in our country.
I am thankful the Bush administration had the time to get the armaments built that we have used in afganastan and iraq.

You know, Tengu, you are right. It seems that whenever our country goes down during an election year, the Democrats do a little victory dance. What does that say about the character they have regarding the advancement of our nation?

As for the job front...our country experienced the largest quarter of economic growth that we have had in over 40 YEARS! Part of the reason the jobs have no been as forthcoming as they have in the past is because the economy is so much more efficient. The jobs that are being created are higher paying and much more secure. That is not to say the jobs won't come back, because they will. The economy is growing and expanding, and a rising tide lifts all boats.

As for the discussion on unions, I have to weigh in here just a little bit...and I fully expect some flames from this, but oh well. I have never found that a union is the best way to do business. At one time, they served a good purpose in this country. Now, it seems, they only serve to maintain a status quo that is as antiquated as a steam engine. There are so many better ways to advance your position in a job...you shouldn't need a union rep to do it for you.

That having been said... to each his own!

sgrooms, I have to agree with you they talk a good game until they have a meeting with management then they start sqatting to pee. Unfortunately they have had their hooks in the motion picture industry since almost the begining. so if you want to work you have to belong.

This thread is unbelievable! So much emotion poured out over a list of fabrications. It has to be some sort of record.

If you think a president has the power to do all that, you should have failed Civics in high school (unless you attended a California public school, where you would graduate with honors and be asked to remain there as faculty.)

If you think all of this has been brought about in 3.25 years, you're even dumber than I asserted in my previous paragraph.

20014x4, you forgot to mention a couple of things I would like to add to your forged letter from Mr. Bush:

I did not sit idly by when terrorists crashed 4 aircraft on our soil, killing over 4,000 innocent American citizens. Instead, I hunted them down and made them pay with their own lives. In fact, I will continue to do it, if necessary until the citizens I swore to protect are safe from that threat again.

I dethroned a murderous dictator hell-bent on inflicting pain and suffering on his own people, as well as on any American citizen I could find.

I exported jobs overseas starting 12 September, 2001....They're called American miltary men and women and they're doing great things for our country! I pay their salaries with that deficit 'I' created. They, in turn, spend their hard-earned money in the American economy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20014x4, I am one of the men who holds a job exported during this President's tenure. I am happy to do it. I do it for people like you, who, despite an obvious lack of understanding of world politics and human nature, still deserve to live safely in a free nation. I have mourned the loss of greater men than you or I, who gave their lives for this same cause. I don't do it for your thanks. I wouldn't expect you to understand. I'm just glad you're free to vent.

My conscience is clean. And I sleep soundly every night.

I think most people who say they're going to vote for Kerry haven't done their research, and don't know what his voting record is like. To me, it's scary, and I'll be honest, you guys who say you're going to vote for him SCARE me legitimately.

Kerry is practically an enemy of this country with his voting record, yet we have people willing to vote for him based on economy alone. Well, it's not ALL about the economy, and if you guys think that he can keep this country safe, then again, you have no clue what his voting record is like.

I'll pray that Bush will be in office another 4 years. If not, then I think we as a country would have made a huge mistake.

This is nothing against those who like Kerry, but the man scares me to death. I would have been much more comfortable with Edwards or Lieberman if I had to pick the lesser of 9 evils.

Exactly.

Our boat was attacked by Binladen, post Clinton downsizing. Things may have turned out a little different if ;
a) We didn't lose experienced personnel that left because of pay cuts, cuts in retention, etc.
b) Freezing training, supplies, equipment repair.
c) Units operating on skeleton crews, stripped of personnel and equipment to subsidize other units.
d) All this and more running through the guys head whos suppose to be standing gaurd while wondering why he's there putting up with that crap.

I'm not saying our forces need to occupy half of Europe (allthough it seems that had been a good deturrent for a while), but half our forces should at least be full strength.

Redleg, you hit the nail on the head. As a military man, I can say we've been doing so much with so little for so long, it would seem the only next step is to see if we can do everything with absolutely nothing. And that's exactly what Kerry would like to see.
