I am about to buy some new tires for the dually. What's the best setup for the valve stems for the rear duals or all of the the wheels? Right now it just has regular short rubber valve stems and it makes checking/filling the inside tires a pain. I have seen some extensions but I don't know how well they would work.

Anyone got a better system?

 

i dont know who makes em. i had em my old dually. i got mine from the local big rig shop.

 

Metal valve stems work best they don't bend when your checking pressure.....I use a straight air chuck to check and fill my inter tires it goes thru the hand holes better.....be careful of cheap plastic extention they can leak

 

I have the plated brass clamp in type valve stems. They are short, but stiff! The double headed truck style airchuck works great, fits through the handholes, and pulls toward you for the front wheel, pushes away for the inside wheel. The rubber bushing for the rim hole seals very well. I bought mine at the local farm supply store, for about $2.00 each.

 

I had Steel Valve stems put in all 6 tires (for rotation purposes) I got braided stainless extenders from Camping World that work great!

Must have been a rocket scientist who designed the valve stems to face inward on the dually....

You kind of answer your own statement. Rotational purposes. Only two of the 6 wheels have the stems facing in. When rotated, they face out again in the other positions.

 

Maybe they should just come w/ extenders then!

 

Go to any shop that repairs big truck tires and get them. Get brass stems at least 1 1/2 inchs long so that they are not too close to the wheel to get the air chuck on. That way you won't need extensions.

And when you rotate your tires, you move the valve stems?
80,000 miles and I've always been able to check pressures and keep them aired up.

It might be worth it for a physically impaired or non-mechanically inclined driver.
Just not for me.

Yes, Chuck does own a Ford and one of the kits is for Ford's. Only because we were told about the site today and that it would be a great idea to post the info about the kit for Dodge's did I post a message.

I just tell them which stems I want...NO CHARGE! never has been.
