Hey Bark - - how is the salmon run heading up this year. Heard anything about the Kings up in Ship's Creek? How about Kenai? Man I miss being there this time of the year. Has the fireweed started turning yet?

Evening DTR.. Had a great weekend. Did a benifit ride for cancer awarness this weekend. Went to a ABATE party lastnight and sat on the couch all day.

Fireweed is turning. Silvers are crazy at Seward and some other areas but there are some rivers that the red runs did poorly and the silvers also. (Kenai river barely made its red escapement this year). Oh, too many people in Anch, they cancelled the King fishing after one day on Ship creek. Weather is perfect (no rain at the moment). Pic is from some reds in late July.

Be careful with them shrimp - - they are loaded with cholesterol. I now have to limit my intake to a few at a time - - likewise lobster. We have a lobster hole out about 8 miles in about 65' of water we call Heaven - - go down there and come up 1/2 hour later with your bug bag chuck full. Just can't eat them often - - not good for you.
Speaking of sea food (
), I had some Prairie Oysters when I was about 20. Visited my college roommate in Colorado - - lived on a ranch - - had to go see what this "round up" stuff was all about. We went out for a couple days to where they were doing their thing with the steers - - chuck wagon there, the whole bit. A really different experience for me being a city kid - - fun.
Sarasota is a neat city. Came thru here one summer while home from college (parents were in Tampa) and said I am going to live there someday. Yep - - here I am. Very pretty town.
Pooch? I am Poochless right now - - sold my 911 to replace it and gave my hopped up 914 to my son who also has a 996. He made me so jealous with his 996 I decided I had to upgrade. I am watching for a good buy on a 996, about a 2006 or so. Love my Porsches. When I had 2 pooches plus a Z plus my daily driver, mama said that is it, big boy. At least one of them has to go. Bye bye ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Now my daugter in law is sounding like my wife - - looky buster, too many cars around here. How many Porsches do you need when you only drive one of them one day each week? Five cars for the two of them. He must have had a weird dad.
What a wonderful quiet afternoon. Nice nap on the lanai, dip in the pool, more nap on the other side - - cool ice tea, pretty blonde - - life is good.

I did not know that shrimp were bad for you... I've been guzzeling them down. Don't need any help getting fat. Lobsters... well, I'll just die happy. I would love to go loberstering, I have never done that before, and I love eating them.
I worked at a lot of ranches when I was growing up. Never had a chuckwagon, tho. Porches must have been fun...
Evenin, DTR. Just got done eating some stuffed shells, cheese bread sticks, and some chocolate cake that the boss made for desert. Mmm. Gotta go PT in the morning to work it all off.

Chaikwa here is you pics, now they are just welded out, next weekend Im gonna dress them. (And by dress I mean clean them up properly and sharpen, dont go thinking any funny business)
This is how the original blades were cut out and the chipper blades cut to fit.
Tack up and the first couple of stringers in place. Used 7018 for this to hold then I switched to the high alloy stuff.

Here they are welded out, I left a good bit of reinforcement so that I could dress them how I wanted
Ground out the 7018 from the back and rewelded with the high alloy.
Ran late working and supper with the family so I didnt get to clean them up like I wanted. Thats next weeks chore. Then a good heat treating and sharping and that it.
Supper was good, plenty of shrimp
Yall take it east now, Im going stretch out horizontal. Early rise on Mondays.

You are definitely a welder. I don't wear clothes THAT clean to church. ( but then, I don't tend to go to church either )
Good job on the welds, nice and solid all the way through.
When I have to do something extraordinarily goofy like that, if there is any chance of dissimilar metals, I use stainless. We also use a lot of Arctec 223.
Another day of working on fuel trucks here, steady diet, macks, petes, kws, its all in fun.
Rained, shone, rained, shone, rained/shone at the same time. Remember, weather only happens so that we all have something in common to whine about.

all good comments today! DTR makes it great! Thanks to each helping someone else out! way to go Blake for the pics, make a janitor jealous I'd say....and gotta agree with Pind- too clean for a real welder...even the gloves man...
third tornado here in four months, getting a little bit creepy now. we do snow, not anything else. took down a barn about two miles over and tossed 40 sailboats into the land about an hour's drive northeast.
was gonna call you last night Redleg, for some west coast fly line weight advice. thought at 1AM you'd be less busy. glad I didn't, if you couldn't even eat. hope you had that steak tamed by 8PM. don't let Madhat or Blake do it for ya...and i have seen the look fire dog Jake gives any beef.....he can out grab chaikwa for it.
Good luck to JBark the last year college son, and do not wash your truck this week Matt....metal is getting a little thin....eheheheh

I'm not even through the clear coat yet! got plenty of time before I hit steel!evening DTR, had a very lazy afternoon and evening. After the GF left I sat out on the deck and enjoyed the rest of my day with the newest issue of model railroader and cold one. Dunno what tomorrow will bring yet. Gonna go to the bike shop early to get some brake parts and a rim from my mountain bike, and maybe take it for a nice long trip in the afternoon.
I'm putting on fresh coffee, tea, sweet tea, ph00, and d00. I even have a few left over elephant knuckles, basement steps, and pigs squeels from dinnerif anyone is hungry.
