Slow afternoon. Just relaxing. Took a little nap after the race. Gonna do some reading. Picked up a new book this morning at Costco. The Gamble by Thomas Ricks. Another book about Iraq...specifically the shift in power from Rumsfield to Petraeus. Looks to be good so far.

I will take a volcano over a tornado anyday. Glad it moved. Probably heard you were watching it and ran the other way.

No, Eric, I haven't. I've seen both of his books, just never picked them up. Another book I have recently read that are excellent are:
Gettysbug by Stephen Spears
Battle Cry of Freedom by James McPherson
The Strongest Tribe by Bing West
I live for military history, first hand accounts of battle, tactics, strategy, policy. Love it.

Most of the books that I mentioned are about recent military actions.. Roberts Ridge is about a mission gone wrong in Afcrackistan. I have meet many of the pilots involved.. Good Read..
"In the company of hereos" is about Mike Durant's personal experience of his capture in Mogodishu. He was the pilot of the first Black Hawk that crashed in the "MOG" Grab a few tissues you'll need them to read this book.
"The Night Stalkers" is short battle stories involving the rarely heard of 160th Night Stalkers, Navy Seals, Delta Force, Rangers and the "Unknown Special Ops" (Never knew such a group existed till reading this) The stories are recently declassified battles. You will not be able to put this book down.

Evening Matt, Eric, Claude, Bark.
Eric, I'm going to have to pick those books up, throw them in the "to read" pile. It's getting bigger and bigger. Sounds like something that would most definitely interest me.
Matt, I hear ya. I don't think I could do Chicago, hell, I can barely do the outskirts of Phoenix anymore.
Cooking steak for dinner. Picked up some sirloins at Costco this morning. Looks good. Been sitting out back reading while the chow is cooking. Beautiful day out, sunny, 78 degrees right now at 1820. Can't complain. Life is good.
