Drove them all
We drove the Tundra, Dodge, Ford, Chevy, and a Titan. I dont consider the Suzuki or the Ridgline a truck.
All 4x4
Tundra is out. Nice truck, good power, too expesnive. Demo loaded (no leather) 34,999
Chevy was a nice ride, salesman never called back.
Ford was a sweet truck. Very nice interior, comfortabel ride...unfortunately no power. 29,784
Dodge had mucho power. Slight upgraded in the interior. Nice truck. would only come down to 32,500 from 39,000.
Titan was actually our favorite, but they are having issues with the rear-ends. Dont need that.
Wife likes the Ford, I like the Dodge.
Ive had 5 Dodges the last 10 years. 4 of those Deisels. This one is for my wife. She's getting out of her 04.5 CTD 2500 SB..
If I can get Dodge down to 30,000, that will be my route. If not, I think Im gonna have her keep the CTD.

And the Nissan having problems with the rear end is likely due to it being so puny. It looks like something from a crossover vehicle. Can't believe they'd put a sissy looking rear end on their truck. The Tundra has a 10.5", the same size that Dodge uses on their 2500/Hemi. I think the Tundra is kind of like a heavy-1/2 ton. I would not overlook one, that's for sure.
For me, it would be difficult looking past a 1/2 ton Dodge with Hemi, or the Tundra/5.7L. I'd get a GMC before I'd buy the cracker box on wheels Ford. Man, can they be anymore rectangle looking?

Speaking of Toyota....
I was watching American Chopper the other day and jr. bought himself a new Tundra. In one scene he reaches down and slams the tailgate shut with one hand. The whole bed shook like it was vibrating. I've never done this with any of my trucks, but it made me wonder is the Toyota really that weak?
And, if you can believe the article - it looks like it might get better mileage than the Hemi....
According to autoblog.com - the new F150 V8 is around 400/400, which would make it comparable to the new Hemi... http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/20/r...ng-also-get-e/

When we purchased our 09 1500 Ram, we did everything your doing, we looked at all of the higher line of trucks including the Lincoln, Denali, Escalade, Limited F150. Price wasn't an object and my wife to my surprise still loved the Dodge, it's luxury and it's power. The ford might be a nice truck, but the engine is puny and has NO power. The Dodges creature comforts, ride, seats and power sold us.
Talking to a few friends they tell me that Tundras get bad gas milage. And gas mileage varies greatly from truck to truck. And that is for trucks with identical equipment.
Ford what I have been told from owners is that they don't actually get the mileage that is claimed. And some are not happy with the quality.
I personally olny know of one owner of a 09 Ram 1500 that wasn't happy with it. He sold his but just bought a year older 08 1500 ram.

The Titan rear axle may look puny, but on my 05 I never had issues with it, and I was routinely towing 9300 lb with it. Mine was the first of the ones with the aluminum cover and synthetic oil for better cooling, I don't think they have had problems since those 04 and early 05 models. I think Nissan's design flaw was the gear ratio they chose causing more stress on the components. The 2.97 or 3.36 gear ratios make for more stress on the pinion gear than something like Toyota's 4.30 gear ratio. The rear springs were insufficient for the load I was towing, airbags solved that problem (airbags not installed in the pic below, front end had a 2.5" lift).
If I were in the market for a new gasser truck it'd be an easy choice to get the Tundra. They have the largest regular cab (I prefer regular cab) and the 381 hp/401 tq with a 6 speed auto and 13.9" front brakes makes for an impressive package. When the new Tundra came out in Jan 2007 I test drove one and was in lust. It was fast, handled great, and Toyota's hold their value well. It was expensive, MSRP as I wanted it was $34K for the regular cab 4x4 SR5. When I sold my Titan in May of 2008 I had already decided on a diesel and didn't think twice about looking at the Tundra again.
