Exclamation Don't Close your Blinds!!

Subject: Don't close your blinds
IT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED BETTER THAN THIS!
Read this story about: "Don't Close Your Blinds!"

The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war. My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good explanation.

My husband thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go stand in our front living room window. He told him: "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"

"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.

"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush."

Our son giggled and said "OK."

"Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that every house and yard on this block is a different country" my husband said.

"OK Dad, I'm pretending."

"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and see that man come out of his house with his wife and he has her by the hair and is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her on the ground, then he starts to kick her to death. Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kids and afraid of their father. You see all of this son.... what do you do?"

"Dad?"

"What do you do son?"

"I call the police, Dad."

"OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations and they take your call, listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. What do you do then son?"

"Dad, but the police are supposed to help!" My son starts to whine.

"They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place or your place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband says.

"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims.

"I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children."

"Daddy...he kills them?"

"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"

"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door neighbor to help me stop him." our son says.

"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get involved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," my husband says.

"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"

"WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry.

"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?" "What Daddy?"

"He walks across the street to the old ladies house and breaks down her door and drags her out, steals all her stuff and sets her house on fire and then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in he window and laughs at you. WHAT DO YOU DO?"

"Daddy..."

"WHAT DO YOU DO?"

Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I close the blinds, Daddy."

My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him... "Why?"

"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help...people who needs it....and they won't help....You always say that neighbors are supposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself ...Daddy.....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these terrible things and...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds....so I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pretend that it is not happening."

I start to cry.

My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husbands questions and he tells him...."Son"

"Yes, Daddy."

"Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door..."WHAT DO YOU DO?"

My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He ***** up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without hesitation he says: "I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM!!!!!"

I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs my son to his chest and hugs him tight, and cries..."It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife. You have to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, before......it's too late." my husband whispers.

THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and let evil happen is the greatest EVIL of all. Our President is doing what is right. We, as a free nation, must understand that this war is a war of humanity. WE must remove evil men from power so that we can continue to live in a free world where we are not afraid to look out our window. So that my nine year old son won't grow up in a world where he feels that if he just "closes" that blinds the atrocities in the world won't affect him. "YOU MUST NEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT! EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!"

BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!
BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!!
BE PROUD OF OUR PRESIDENT
SUPPORT THEM!!!
SUPPORT AMERICA!!
SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TO CLOSE THEIR BLINDS...."

Son, look out that window, what do you see?

I see people driving up and down the street and I see airplanes flying over.

Son, what makes those vehicles go?

Uh, oil products?

That's right son. Now, who sells those oil products and who supports those oil products?

Uh, Exxon, BP, Citgo, Phillips 66, Halliburton, companies like that.

That's right son. What kind of business was your president in?

I think the oil business dad.....

Yep, thats right son. What business did your Vice President run?

I believe it was Halliburton daddy.

Yep, he was an executive with Halliburton.

Daddy, does this mean that when I am 18 I will have to go fight for Exxon and Halliburton?

Well, unless we get those two clowns out of office I'm afraid you will son.

Well, daddy...... At least they will be punished in the next life...

Yeah son, there is always that.

Great story.

On edit: I was referring to the first one. The second one was pathetic at best.

Drawson, Great story. Reminds me of a similiar one:

"The Evil of Inaction"

“In Germany they came first for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up.” (Written by a protestant minister who was put to death in a gas chamber along with the Jews).

Throughout the war in Iraq, and even now, some people believe we were wrong to have been involved. But, would we have preferred the alternative? Would we have preferred a continuation of the murders and torture of thousands, and environmental damage to that part of the world? Could we accept the instability that an evil regime would create in the Middle East? When we decline to act, we accept by default the consequences of inaction.

Much has been said about the need to locate weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Some feel that WMD’s need to be found to justify the war against Iraq. Others want them found so that none end up in the hands of terrorists.

One weapon of mass destruction has already been found and taken out. Saddam and his thugs have systematically destroyed villages, tortured countless people, killed thousands of his own people and caused considerable environmental damage in the Middle East. In the hands of such a criminal regime, every act becomes, collectively, a weapon of mass destruction. Even if no other WMD’s are found, the war has been proven to have been necessary. Civilized nations should not sit idly by while such harm is inflicted. Failure to act against such atrocities simply encourages such behaviors to continue.

Scripture Psalms 82:2-4

"How long will you defend the unjust
And show partiality to the wicked?
Defend the cause of the weak and the fatherless;
Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Rescue the weak and needy;
Deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

That is the most insanely idiotic thing I have ever read. Each of us who has read it is now dumber for even glancing at this mindless rambling.

Who comes up with this crap? I ask you would any normal parent give this kind of explanation to a nine year old child or this is the net result of 'no child left behind' program.

What is more sickening is that this is atributed to a veteran.

Any good parent would, IMO. I know mine would! But that's why I'm not whining about this War, and how it was all for oil. I just pay the fuel price, and sit at home happy that I am able to do so, and that I am able to tell you this now. I'm happy that our leader see's it my way, and that he was tired of watching as other's happiness, which we in this country enjoy, was ripped away!

Sorry, I'll shut-up now

Chris

BTW, if there are any typo's I apologize, I wrote this with a tear in my eye.

This kind of logic is why we are in this position!!

Come now Chris, I do not believe you said that. Keep in mind that we are not debating the merits of the war, just merely choosing the way to explain it (hypoteticaly) to a nine year old. You think a child wil really grasp it that way? I bet not. Are those the best examples to provide? Do you think they will lead to groing up into a person that respects the police? or any authority for that matter? Surely there must be a better way to do it even if one is in agreement wiht it.

It still amazes me that people actually believe this rubbage

We had control of Kuwaits' oil in the last gulf war....and what did we do?

We gave it back..........got news for ya. Halliburton and Bechtel were heavily involved in rebuilding the damage Saddam did to Kuwaits' oil infrastructure.

Why? Because Halliburton and Bechtel, the two largest contractors in Iraq, are two of but a few companies worldwide that have the expertise and logistics to do so.

Bechtel is the other large contractor in Iraq, and all over the middle east for that matter. Cheney never served on Bechtel's board.

Explain that one.........

Allright now guys, no need to get ugly. I believe that stuffing his pockets is the main reason Bush got us over there in Iraq. You dont. I disagree with you, but I'm not going to get childish and start calling you names.

I think that YOU have your eyes closed...... along with your mind. I know I am not going to change anyones mind about it either. I just get tired of all the "Heroic George W Bush crap".

Kerry..... He's a piece of crap also. We dont have a good man to choose from this time...... nor the time before that, and before that.

This war is about control of the middle east and all the oil that it contains. Yes, the oil is vital to our national interests and we have to have some way to control it. Having a presence in Iraq (A major military presence) is a good way to control what goes on over there.
Dont (edit) down my leg and tell me it's raining! Dont say we are there to stop terrorism, go ahead and say we need to have a military presence there to protect our country's vital interests.

If you want to fight terrorists, invade Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Chechnya, North Korea, Somalia, finish the fight in Afghanistan. Open your dang minds/eyes and quit letting people pump you full of Texas Cow Crap.

And BTW, our soldiers ARE heroic, just as our soldiers in Viet Nam were. The problem is we are lying to them too. We send them to the far side of the world, tell them to fight and then tie their hands behind their backs with political war tactics. Uh, let me call in and see if we can return fire boys...... Uh, we cant go after those 2000 mujadeen because they are hiding in a "holy place".

It's all (Edit).
