dogs and fleas/ticks

I've got a 7 month old pup. Its dead winter now in NY and its cold. Not concerned about the fleas and ticks right now. But come the warm weather, I'm very concerned. My lab loves to roam around now. On and off the cleared area. Runs into the thick stuff. I can't imagine whats its going to be like in the spring summer with the little critters. I don't want to inhibit his activity...

What have you others done for your dogs?

thanks

Frontline works really well for my dogs. I live on a farm and my dogs are outside dogs and are NEVER tied up. They roam the farm and surrounding woods all summer...

x2.... 149 acres here and never tie my 4 labs up. Frontline all the way

Just a tip. Buy the bit containers and dose it rather than a small container every month or so. More $ up front but bigger savings in the end. IMO
