Could use some help.... Mahogany Flame

My house is sided in a phillipine mahogany... not one of my best decisions in life... and I used a Cabots PRoduct called Mahogany Flame # 9459

Seems as though the govt. with all of their great ideas decided that a can of stain is a and they've outlawed my purchasing ability to get the same stain here in NJ, PA, CT Etc.... yada, yada, yada !

So... in other parts of the country, it's still available, or so I've been told by the Cabots help center.

Anyone know of a store, either local or not local (willing to travel a bit) that I can still get the old stock cabots OIL STAIN and not the new reformulated stuff ?????? The new stuff has a BLUE TOPPED can lid and is completely different, and won't do.... or says my wife.

It's called Mahogany Flame Australian Timber oil # 9459. The re-formulated version (low VOC's) is different colored to the point it doesn't match my home as the original.

I tested the new stuff, and even though the cabots folks say "it's the same color"..... the reality is, that it's not, as it's actually more orange than red tinted. I thought of "tinting" it myself, but with these new formulations, they cannot be tinted. It's an oil modified water based version out now, and only the old stock #9459 still is oil based.

Thanks for anyone who can steer me in the right direction.

Not to side track, but make sure you want to recover with a tint rather than a clear.

My dad second and third coated cedar with color tinted stain and it darkened our cabin quite a bit.

Might want to check on it.....

If they have it it's only sold in quarts, which would put it about $80 a gallon. If so, I'll have to look into another manufacturer, or switch to the water based.

I'll have to check that out, although I suspect I'll be finding a blue lid on it.
